“Textiles offers the opportunity to develop skills over a broad range of textile and fashion techniques and applications such as printing, dyeing,surface design,embroidery,and weaving. Practical work is produced by researching and developing ideas using drawing, digital exploration, and sketchbooks supported by critical evaluation and an awareness of contemporary and historical influences.”

The emphasis of this course is learning by doing. In the first year you will produce a portfolio of coursework. For the externally set assignment you will create ideas in response to one of the five exciting starting points provided. During the course you will learn about and explore a wide range of different approaches to textiles subject matter, media, techniques and processes, discovering where your interests and passion lies.

Textiles offers access to a wide range of Degree courses and careers including: Constructed Textiles, Contemporary Textiles, Costume Design, Digital Textiles, Fashion Design, Fine Art, Footwear Design, Fashion Promotion and Marketing, Theatre Design, Textile Science and Technology, Surface Design, Sportswear Design and Printed Textiles.
