A lot of great memories seem to come out of Conference Championships and we are excited about the team that is headed out to Sacramento to represent the Vandals. It has been an enjoyable year thus far and yet there is still so much potential headed into the championship season. Idaho Track & Field Ready for 2017 Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championships The University of Idaho Track & Field program has had a successful outdoor campaign highlighted by a school record and numerous all-time top ten marks in school history. The Vandals are excited heading into the Big Sky Conference Championship this week in Sacramento. Here are the Idaho athletes ranked in the top ten in the Big Sky Conference heading into the championship weekend:

Senior Nathan Stark 26th in the West 3000m Steeplechase - 8:56.54

Sophomore Mack Baxter 39th in the West 400m Hurdles - 51.98

Freshman Rechelle Meade 41st in the West High Jump - 1.75m 44th in the West Long Jump - 6.09m

14 Future Vandals Will Join Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country in the Fall of 2017 The future looks bright! We are thrilled to introduce the newest Future Vandals, who will join us in the fall of 2017. Tristin Bowens - Capital HS - Boise, ID - State Champion in 100m and State Runner-Up in 200m.

Has personal bests 12.18 in 100m, 25.30 in the 200m, and 17’ 10” in the long jump. Nik Chappee - Air Academy HS - Colorado Springs, CO - Ranked 11th Nationally in 2017 class of 200m and 400m combination sprinter. Second place at state championships in 400mas a junior, has personal bests of 21.27 in the 200m and 47.67 in the 400m. Faith Dilmore - Rocky Mountain HS - Meridian, ID - Three times has placed top four at state championships in 800m. Personal bests of 2:15.8 in the 800m and 4:41.5 in the 1500m. Anna Fomin - Central Valley HS - Veradale, WA - Twice placed top four at state championships in 400m. Has personals bests of 55.5 in 400m, 25.0 in 200m, and 2:18.4 in 800m. Jenner Higgins - Sheldon HS - Eugene, OR - State Champion in the 800m as a junior and placed fourth as a sophomore. Member of state championship 4 x 400m relay team as a junior. Has personal bests of 1:52.9 in 800m, 3:57.9 in 1500m, and 50.12 in 400m. Britt Ipsen - Capital HS - Boise, ID - Won a national championship in the triple jump as a senior at the New Balance National Championships indoors. State Champion in the high jump as a junior and the long jump as a sophomore. Personal bests of 23’9” in the long jump, 6’ 8” in the high jump, and 48’ 2.5” in the triple jump. Celie Mans - Siuslaw HS - Florence, OR - Two-Time State Champion in Cross Country, multi-time all-state in track & field. Has personal bests of 10:17 in the 3000m, 4:50.3 in the 1500m, and 18:27 5000m XC. Michael McCausland - Central Catholic HS - Portland, OR - Multi-time all-state athlete in cross country highlighted by fifth place finish at state championships as a senior. Member of three state championship cross country teams. Has personal bests of 8:45.6 in the 3000m, 4:22.5 in the mile, and 15:37 for 5000mXC. Maya McFadden - Glacier Peak HS - Snohomish, WA - Ranked 10th in the country in the heptathlon currently among high school athletes. Has a personal best of 4509 in the heptathlon and has thrown javelin 137’ 5”. Jocie Osika - Lake City HS - Coeur d’Alene, ID - Placed seventh at state championships in shot put as a junior and 11th in the discus. Has personal bests of 131’ 9” in the discus and 37’ 6.5” in the shot put. Hannah Ringel - Sedona Red Rock HS - Sedona, AZ - State Champion in the shot put as a junior and a sophomore, also placed fourth as freshman. Placed second in the discus as a junior. Has personal bests of 41’ 6.5” in the shot put and 124’ 8” in the discus. Caleb Seely - Wilson HS - Portland, OR - Placed fourth in the 1500 and sixth in the 800m as a junior. Also placed seventh at state cross country championships as a senior. Caleb has personal bests of 3:53.73 in the 1500m, 1:54.01 in the 800m, and has run 15:47 over 5000m for cross country. His time in the 1500m ranks him first in state of Oregon this season. Malaina Thacker - Rogers HS - Puyallup, WA - Placed second at the state championships in the 800m as junior and third as a sophomore, twice placed sixth in the 1600m. Has personal bests of 2:13.2 in the 800m and 5:00.7 in the 1600m. Hana Tyndall - Gleneagle HS - British Columbia, Canada - Consistently one of the best hurdlers in the British Columbia province of Canada. During the 2016 season she placed third at provincials and fifth at the BC High School Championships in the 100m hurdles. She has personal bests of 14.49 in the 100m hurdles, 26.07 in the 200m, and 1:02.03 in the 400m.

Freshman Rechelle Meade Breaks School Record in the Long Jump FR Rechelle Meade continues to scorch her first year as a Vandal. She broke the nine year-old school record in the women’s long jump at the Oregon State High Performance Meet on April 29th, the record was held by Alice Draser, who leaped 6.04m in 2008. Rechelle looks to eclipse the 20 foot mark heading in the championship portion of the season. Other athletes have cracked the men’s and women’s all-time marks in school history and still have more opportunities this season: 1. FR Rechelle Meade - Women’s Long Jump - 6.09m (19’ 11.75”) 4.
