Countable Activities: The NCAA sets out guidelines about practice and game time limitations for coaches and athletes to follow. These guidelines are provided for the protection and safety of the student-athletes. Below are listed some of the more frequently asked questions about regulations. Practice Limitations: A student-athlete's participation in countable athletically related activities shall be limited to a maxi-
mum of four hours per day and twenty hours per week during the playing season. All competition and any associated athletically related activities on the day of competition shall count as three hours regardless of the actual duration of these activities. Practice may not be conducted at any time (including vacation periods) following competi-

tion, except between contest rounds or events during multi-day or multievent competition (e.g., double-headers in softball or baseball, rounds of golf in a multi-day tournament). Preseason Practice: Daily and weekly hour limitations do not apply to countable athletically related activities occurring during preseason practice prior to the first day of classes or the first scheduled contest, whichever is
Extra Benefits: An extra benefit is any special arrangement by a BU employee or a booster to provide a studentathlete or a studentathlete's relative or friend a benefit not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation. Receipt of a benefit by student-athletes or their relatives or friends is not a violation of NCAA legislation if it is demonstrated that the same benefit is generally available to Bradley students or their relatives or friends or to a particular segment of the student body (e.g., foreign students, minority students) determined on a basis unrelated to athletics ability.
The acceptance of an illegal benefit could result in the loss of your eligibility, your scholarship, and your right to compete in intercollegiate athletics. Illegal benefits do not ONLY include receiving gifts or money. A studentathlete also may not: Accept athletics equipment, supplies or clothing (e.g., tennis racquets, golf clubs, balls, shirts) from a manufacturer or commercial enterprise. Receive more than the allotted number of complimentary admissions;

Sell complimentary admissions at any price; or Receive material benefits or services that are not available to the general student body.
Thus, DO NOT ever accept special discounts on purchases or services or even accept special payment arrangements on any purchases. Be skeptical of any "free" or "special" benefits that someone wishes to give you.

D - Drug Testing To participate in practice or to compete, each and every student-athlete must sign an NCAA Drug-Testing Consent form. A student-athlete who tests positive for an NCAA-banned substance will be declared ineligible for one calendar year after the positive drug test AND shall be charged with the loss of a minimum of one season of competition in all sports.
E - Eligibility Freshmen eligibility is determined by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Both high school core courses and ACT/SAT scores are used to determine eligibility status. Continuing eligibility is ultimately determined by the Registrar’s Office. To be eligible from term to term you must earn 6 degree-applicable hours at a minimum. For the academic year (Fall + Spring) you should earn a minimum of 18 degree-applicable hours.
F - Financial Aid The maximum athletics aid you can receive includes tuition, fees, room & board, and required books. You can receive need-based aid, parents’ 529 plan monies, and parental gifts over and above that, but very little else is permissible. Outside scholarships, by NCAA rule, are required to be reported so that we can determine if they are permissible and fit within your individual NCAA grant-in-aid limit. All NCAA sports also have an NCAA limit on the number of grants-inaid that they are permitted to award each academic year.
From all of us in the Bradley Athletics Department… Welcome back and we hope that you have a great semester!
