Countable Activities: The NCAA sets out guidelines about practice and game time limitations for coaches and athletes to follow. These guidelines are provided for the protection and safety of the student-athletes. Below are listed some of the more frequently asked questions about regulations.

mum of four hours per day and twenty hours per week during the playing season. All competition and any associated athletically related activities on the day of competition shall count as three hours regardless of the actual duration of these activities.

test rounds or events during multi-day or multievent competition (e.g., double-headers in softball or baseball, rounds of golf in a multi-day tournament).

Preseason Practice: Daily and weekly hour limitations do not apply to countable athletically related activities occurring Practice Limitations: Practice may not be conduring preseason practice A student-athlete's partici- ducted at any time prior to the first day of pation in countable ath(including vacation periclasses or the first schedletically related activities ods) following competiuled contest, whichever is shall be limited to a maxi- tion, except between con- earlier.

Extra Benefits: An extra benefit is any special arrangement by a BU employee or a booster to provide a studentathlete or a studentathlete's relative or friend a benefit not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation. Receipt of a benefit by student-athletes or their relatives or friends is not a violation of NCAA legislation if it is demonstrated that the same benefit is generally available to Bradley students or their relatives or friends or to a particular segment of the student body (e.g., foreign students, minority students) determined on a basis unrelated to athletics ability.

The acceptance of an illegal benefit could result in the loss of your eligibility, your scholarship, and your right to compete in intercollegiate athletics. Illegal benefits do not ONLY include receiving gifts or money. A studentathlete also may not:  Accept athletics equipment, supplies or clothing (e.g., tennis racquets, golf clubs, balls, shirts) from a manufacturer or commercial enterprise.  Receive more than the allotted number of complimentary admissions;

Sell complimentary admissions at any price; or Receive material benefits or services that are not available to the general student body.

Thus, DO NOT ever accept special discounts on purchases or services or even accept special payment arrangements on any purchases. Be skeptical of any "free" or "special" benefits that someone wishes to give you.

R - Recruiting Only authorized institutional staff members may be involved in the recruiting process. Coaches must pass an annual NCAA written recruiting exam prior to participating in off-campus activities. The NCAA requires a passing score of an 80% or better and if they don’t pass it, they have to wait 30 days before taking it again.

S - Sport Agents A student-athlete will lose his/her eligibility if he/she agrees orally or in writing to be represented by an agent for the purpose of marketing his/her athletics ability or reputation.

T - Transfers A transfer student is one who comes to our institution after being enrolled full-time at another two- or four-year college. The second institution may not make contact (of any kind – direct or indirect) with the student-athlete from another NCAA or NAIA four-year college without first obtaining permission to contact the student-athlete from the first institution.

Compliance Quiz: True or False - It is NOT permissible for a student-athlete to engage in recruiting conversations with a prospect via a social networking website (e.g., Facebook). Furthermore, the following would NOT be permissible to post on your social networking website: pictures of a prospect’s visit to campus, publicly comment on a prospect’s athletics ability or the likelihood of the prospect signing an NLI with Bradley or post any recruiting messages on a prospect’s page.
