Every new year brings the opportunity to start over - to start over personally, as a family, as a parent, as a husband, as a wife, as an employee and in your walk with God. The new year gives you that opportunity. Life is a journey and every journey has a destination. Everybody ends up somewhere in life. A few people end up somewhere on purpose. A clear purpose, along with the courage to follow through, dramatically increases your chances of coming to the end of your life, looking back with a deep satisfaction and thinking “I did it. I succeeded. I finished well. My life counted.” Without a clear purpose, odds are you will come to the end of your life and wonder what you could have done – what you should have done. And like so many, you may wonder if your life really mattered at all. Purpose gives significance to the otherwise meaningless details of our lives. It’s not always about what we’re doing, but rather why we are doing it. While the average person may have the right to dream his own dreams and develop his own picture of what his future could and should be, we as followers of Christ have surrendered our lives to follow Christ and His purpose for our lives. We gave up our right to be in charge when we accepted Christ and agreed to follow Him. Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” God has a purpose and plan for your life. What could be more fulfilling than the plan that God has for you? There are three kinds of people in life Accusers: They always blame everybody else for their problems Favorite phrase is “its all your fault” Excusers: Excusers always have a rationale for where they are Choosers: I choose to assume responsibility for my own happiness. I choose the direction of my life To accomplish God’s purpose for your life in 2018 will require some risk on your part. God’s plan for your life will never become a reality until you are willing to make a wholehearted commitment to His purpose and plan for your life. Goliath never would have been defeated had David not stepped out from the ranks of the Israelites to challenge the giant. Peter would have never known the thrill of coming to Jesus on the water had he not swung both legs over the side of the boat and stepped out into deep water. If you want to walk on water you have to get out of the boat! We will never experience the fulfillment of accomplishing the purpose and plan that God has for your life if you are not willing to take the risk and sacrifice that is required. The year 2018 will give you another opportunity to fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Will you take the risk? At FallsCreek we will help you on your journey of life. We will encourage you to live for God who loves you and gave His Son to die for you. Check us out this Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. You will be glad you did!
