Keep Reading over Break! Encourage your Oilton student to read over the winter break by trying these fun ideas:
THE OILTON WINGMAN
Have your children read holiday cards when they are received in the mail, and let them write a message in outgoing cards. Let children read ingredients from holiday recipes while you bake together. It's a great way for them to learn measurements and temperatures. Set aside time for kids to "show off" their new reading skills to visiting relatives. Children love being the focus of attention, and family members are usually more than willing to see their progress. Even if no books make your child's wish list, make sure you give at least one as a gift, and encourage them to read it. (from www.education.com)
THE WORLD’S COOLEST. . . a column by Oilton Kids Mattie from 6th grade says, “My Grandma really is the coolest because she taught me how to sew, lets me come over a lot, and she cooks me pancakes.” Jacksyn from Kindergarten says, “My Poppy Pat really is the coolest because he’s my best friend. He takes me golfing, plays catch with me, takes me on his motorcycle, and lets me sleep on him watching t.v.”
“A child needs a grandparent, anybody’s grandparent, to grow a little more securely into an unfamiliar world.” - Charles and Ann Morse
