WELCOME, FRESHMEN

The Red Flash welcomed seven newcomers to the program with the start of practice in early October. The freshman class includes Ifeanyi Umezurike, Scott Meredith, Jordan Forehand, Andre Wolford, Michael Klebon, Isaiah Blackmon and Josh Nebo.

A MESSAGE FROM COACH Basketball season is upon us! It is hard to believe that we are less than a month away from our opening game at Notre Dame. The guys have worked hard in preparation for the season. We had a productive summer on the court, in the classroom, and in the community and we have been able to carry that momentum over to the start of the fall semester. The thing I am most impressed about this group is how quickly they came together. We have focused on the thought that you cannot become a great team until you become a family. Our seniors, Greg Brown, Ronnie Drinnon, and Ben Millaud-Meunier have done a great job of leading this group and I am excited about what they can accomplish this year. I look forward to seeing you at a game here in Loretto or at a venue close to your hometown. If we can ever help you in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out. Go Red Flash!

COMMUNITY SERVICE AND TEAM BUILDING The men’s basketball team had a busy offseason of helping the community while also doing team-building exercises. At Port Matilda, the team carried beams (pictured below), did landscaping and moved large boulders. At Potato Fest in Ebensburg, the Red Flash helped in the set-up of tents for the local vendors. As part of Reaching Every Door (R.E.D.) at Saint Francis, the guys took to landscaping and mulching different areas around campus. And during the early parts of preseason camp, the team went on an overnight camping trip to Camp Harmony. The team stayed together in one large cabin and were charged with cooking a meal in true outdoors fashion. While there, the Red Flash hit the water for some kayaking.

The Red Flash returns home for its first game at DeGol Arena against the Westminster Titans. The game is the first of 14 home contests for the Red Flash in 2015-16, and the first of five home non-conference games. Westminster reached the Presidents’ Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals last year. Following the Westminster game, the Flash stays home to face American on Nov. 21.
