Jesus went on to say, “Whoever humbles himself like this child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (verse 4). How and why is the humble life the greatest?

Read Matthew 23:1-12. Jesus warned the people not to seek status as the Pharisees did and then told them, “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” In what ways have you seen the truth of these words of Jesus in either your life or the lives of those around you?

For most of us, we would say it is harder to ask for help and receive it than it is to give help. What is it in you that makes it hard for you to ask for or receive help? Does that need adjustment? What do you think needs to change?

Two good quotes to think about:  “True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.”  “As long as you are proud, you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.” ~C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity Discuss with your group how these quotes can apply to your life.

10. Is there anything from the previous weeks that you would like to discuss further or update the group on? Share with your group any progress or positive steps you have taken so they can celebrate with you. Also, share any other praise or prayer requests with your group.
