Good people giving money to good causes. It’s a vital part of what we do at Social Venture Partners. But we’re facing big problems in our community, and money alone is not enough to solve them.
That’s why SVP goes beyond philanthropy. Both local and global, the SVP model is philanthropy rooted in your backyard. SVP Minnesota Partners invest time, money, and skills in nonprofits that are located in the Twin Cities. At the same time, we are part of an international network of 3000+ givers, volunteers, leaders, and changemakers. Together our network has given more than $50 million and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours to almost 550 nonprofits since 1997. Still growing, we have member organizations in 35 cities arounds the world with more ramping up. Learn more at svpmn.org..
Unlock & Unleash the Potential in You internal capacity-building, resulting in a new strategic plan that will allow us to greatly amplify our impact in 2014 and beyond. Our future looks truly bright.
To all of my fellow partners that give so generously of themselves in support of the mission and causes we hold dear, I thank you.
2013 marked yet another year of growth and impact for our partnership and the nonprofit organizations we so proudly serve. This impact took many forms, from helping at-risk teens discover their true potential through debate, to developing the financial plan that helped significantly expand the capabilities of an urban bike shop providing internships and counseling to homeless youth. We even took time to focus on our own
The work we do together is making a real difference in young lives, and we can all be rightfully proud of what we have accomplished to date and what we will achieve together in the years to come. If you’re reading this report as a potential partner, I urge you to please consider joining our growing movement of citizen philanthropists. While your contributions as an SVP partner will most certainly help change the trajectory of life for countless at-risk youth in our community, I think you will quickly discover that the life most changed is your own.
The social issues we are addressing are not trivial, nor is the veracity by which we will put our collective resources to work to tackle these problems. Please join us. Help us. Unlock and unleash the potential in you. Our community, and your own life, will be greatly enriched as a result. Thank you. Jeff Tollefson Chairman, SVP Minnesota

ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT / Strong Nonprofits, Better Results
Strong Nonprofits Deliver Better Results It’s that simple. Things like sound financial systems and up-to-date technology can mean the difference between reaching 500 or 5,000 people in need. That’s why SVP works with nonprofits for several years, strengthening all the behind-the-scenes systems that help take their work to the next level.
Over the past year, SVP Minnesota investees partnered with volunteers on consulting projects ranging from developing retail capacity for a bike shop to serving homeless youth to creating a marketing plan for a bilingual preschool. SVP Minnesota supported eight different nonprofit organizations including winners of the Minnesota Cup Social Entrepreneur Division.

CORPORATE PARTNER / Meristem Family Wealth
Serving the Community Together Using Skills-Based Volunteering Charlie Maxwell, CEO of Meristem Family Wealth, joined Social Venture Partners in 2011. As a parent of triplets, Charlie spends his philanthropic time supporting organizations that impact kids, particularly those who have special needs. He has been an active corporate citizen in the Twin Cities as a past board member of Fraser, The Courage Foundation, and The One Percent Club. Currently Charlie is a member of the Children’s Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors. His goal is to work alongside his clients for the betterment of all through community service. Charlie and Meristem are Corporate Partners with SVP Minnesota. Charlie became interested in SVP when one of its Partners, Jeff Tollefson, invited him to join.
