Bishop Leonard Fairley has been assigned to The Louisville Area United Methodist Church effective September 1. He has served the North Carolina Conference since 1984, has served on numerous boards and agencies, and has participated in Mission Work Teams in Costa Rica, Jamaica, Montserrat, Zimbabwe, Haiti, and the Appalachia Service Project. Bishop Fairley has published a book of poetry, “Who Shall Hear My Voice,” and he was also a contributing writer to “The Day the Earth Moved Haiti: From Havoc to Healing.” He was married to Priscilla Ann Russell who died in 2013. He has two adult children and is also the proud grandfather of three grandchildren. This is Bishop Fairley's first episcopal appointment. Saturday, November 5, 9 am-3 pm Costume Jewelry Collection Again this year, a UMW bazaar item will be gently used costume jewelry. Last year this table of jewelry created quite a buzz, and was a very popular addition! Our Youth are collecting bottle caps and plastic lids to recycle into a bench. Needed: 200 lbs (about five 55-gallon garbage bags full). Bring plastic caps from medicine bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, toothpaste/ointment tubes, water and soft drink bottles, hair spray, spray paint, flip-top caps, spout caps and caps with recycle numbers 2, 4, and 5. Plastic lids from peanut butter and mayonnaise jars, cottage cheese, cool whip, yogurt, margarine containers, and coffee cans lids are also accepted. No fast food drink lids or caps containing metal. Collection containers are located in Common Ground and Mission Central. Thanks!
