Eco-News Spring Term 2016 Eco Club activities During Eco club the committee have been making pieces of magazine art. The children drew a large scale drawing and then used strips of magazine to create their work. The committee has also been painting their bird boxes ready to assemble around the school grounds Polli:nation funding We are pleased to announce that alongside Worthing High School, Oak Grove and Thomas A Becket Infants we have been selected as a cluster group to receive funding from Polli:nation which will support us in developing our outside areas to create pollinator-friendly habitats, with the support of the national school grounds charity, Learning through Landscapes.
Visit to the Mixed Recycling Facility Children in the Year 6 Eco committee and Litter Ranger group visited the Mixed Recycling Facility (MRF) in Ford. We talked about all the items we can recycle at home and what happens to them once they reach the MRF. We took part in lots of activities and designed our own bag. We also learnt that 20 two litre plastic bottles can make a fleece and that recycled paper can make a pencil.
Fairtrade Fortnight (29th February– Sunday 13th March) During Fairtrade Fortnight we will be taking part in activities and competitions such as a cake sale, design your own bunting, Fairtrade raffle and biscuit bake off. Please see our Fairtrade Newsletter for more details Firewood If anyone has any untreated dead firewood or logs that they are able to donate to our Forest Schools’ project these would be gratefully received.
