Today's Sermon: Sunday, August 20, 2017 Pastor Marv Gibbs

Today’s Sermon: Sunday, August 20, 2017 The Nature of Man & The Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 2:1-3:9

Pastor Marv Gibbs I have always admired the character David had when he came face-to-face with Goliath. Here was this physical giant mocking his God and David had the character to stand and face the challenge. For David, there was no middle ground. Human wisdom or some miraculous proof wasn’t going to get him answers. Half-hearted commitment wouldn’t get the job done. He was victorious because he was fully committed to Faith in a God who was able! Today we begin a study of the work of the Holy Spirit. We first consider what the Spirit needs to work on: That’s us! We come to worship today to look again at what the Word teaches us about ourselves. Open your heart to that insight today.

Prayer Corner Attend to Action Pray for all those who are engaged in the pastoral search process. A new process will be initiated soon. Pray for His direction as we continue to pray for the leadership of our church. It has been brought to my attention the fact that we have not prayed for our current international issues. Pray for peace, especially in the areas of conflict in our world: • Africa and the people who suffer in various countries there. • North Korea and the “postulating” taking place between that government and the US. • Our local needs: pray especially for those in need who are asylum seekers/ refugees. Yield to Unity Pray for unity in our church family, especially that He would strengthen our family relationships. That we would be one in the Spirit as we begin our study on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Pray for unity among our deacon/staff teams, as we increasingly seek His direction for our various ministries.
