Ms. Cayla and Ms. Canh Curriculum Corner: History/Art: We will be finishing up our study of the Solar System research project and moving into learning about Hawaii. The Hawaii study is to gather information about our class Art Walk project the students will be creating. Math: We will be continuing to learn about Fractions, looking at Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication utilizing the different Montessori materials, such as the Stamp Game, Snake Game, Checkerboard and Bead Frame. Language: We have moved into Pronouns this month. We will use our Grammar Box and Skyscraper studies as we look at Nouns, Articles, Verbs, commas, capitalization, and compound words. We will also continue our progress in WASACA word building and Language works. Keep up the reading at home, we are seeing the results in our in class reading! STEM: Twice a month the students participate in STEM projects, which they do in class in groups or with their buddies. The last two projects they have completed were: build a tower using marshmallows and toothpicks and see who can build the tallest free standing tower; the other was create a building that could withstand rain and wind for your Pilgrim using materials of choice. I have added to our wish list items needed for future STEM projects the children can build and create, so please help me in building our material list.
