Tornado Relief March came in like a Lion, with tornados hitting communities in the Midwest. First UMC - Mt. Vernon, IN (to the left) worked on cleaning buckets for these communities. They would roll trash bags one day, then make as many cleaning buckets as they could until they ran out of trash bags. Then they would roll trash bags again. They were reminded that no matter what you do at the Center, it helps many people in times of need.
Bleachers from Shrewsbury, MO
It was busy day removing old wooden bleachers from the City of Shrewsbury Parks & Recreation Building. We received 3,198 pounds of wood that will be recycled, made into school desks and sent all over the world. A big thank you goes to Manchester UMC in Missouri for sending 11 volunteers to help. The Manchester Bike Rehab Program took all the metal (2,680 pounds), recycled it and received $176 for their bike program. If you know of any place getting rid of their bleachers or remodeling their gymnasium, please call Brad at 217.483.7911.

March Volunteer Coordinators Phillip & Ann Stover and Linda Priest were MMDC’s March Volunteer coordinators. Phillip and Ann will be coordinators for the next 3 months, so you will see their pictures a lot. Linda has been volunteering here since the beginning of MMDC, so you have probably already seen her picture many times. The Center is very happy to have all of them here working with the volunteers and staff.
