Role of First Responders
1. Immediate care of the injured or ill athlete 2. Activation of EMS a. Designate an individual to call 911 b. Caller will provide pertinent information: name, location, telephone number, number of injured individuals, condition of the injured, first aid rendered, specific directions, other information as requested
c. Notify campus police at (706) 542-2200 3. Emergency equipment retrieval 4. Direction of EMS to scene a. Butts-Mehre Side Entrance: designate an individual to open the side door and wait for EMS at position 1. NOTE: this door may be fingerprint access only outside of normal business hours
b. Smith Street Gate: designate an individual to open the Smith Street gate using the 911-OK, 9111-OK emergency access code and wait for EMS at position 2 c. Rutherford Gate: designate individual to open gate on Rutherford street and wait for EMS at position 3
5. Scene control Venue Directions The football practice fields are located at the corner of East Rutherford Street and Smith street. EMS entrance is located through the practice field gate located off of Smith Street (position 2) or through the side door on the south side of the Butts-Mehre building adjacent to the S13 parking lot (position 1). If entering from the Smith Street gate (position 2) the grass fields will be on the immediate left or right and the turf field will be at the end of the driveway on the left. The indoor facility has entrances on the Smith street side of the building (position 3). NOTE: the emergency access code for the gate is 911-OK, 9111-OK; this code is to be used for emergencies only.
