TOWN OF PLAINFIELD WAYFINDING SIGN PROGRAM The Plainfield Department of Planning and Zoning is pleased to announce it is ready to accept applications for participation in the Town’s Wayfinding Sign Program. This program is a series of signs with a common design and theme directing the public to specific Points of Interest and entities throughout Plainfield. You may have already seen temporary signs installed last spring at various locations in Plainfield. The permanent signs will be very similar in style and color to the temporary signs. Two sign types are being offered. The largest sign will be the Primary Sign (Type 10) standing about 14’ tall and about 55 sf in total sign surface area. Each sign will have five individual sign panels with each panel being about 6 sf with 6” lettering. Each panel can have about 16 characters. These signs will be placed along major thoroughfares such as Main Street, SR 267 and the Ronald Reagan Parkway. The cost for a sign panel for each sign will be an annual fee of $500 and an initial fee of $1,500 per sign panel. The second sign type is the Secondary Sign (Type 20) standing about 10’ tall with a total sign surface area of 24 sf. These too will have five sign panels with each panel being about 3 sf with 4” lettering. Each panel can have 16 characters. These signs are more like district signs used to provide directions to businesses or uses within a specific district. For example, one such district and location is at the SR 267 / I-70 interchange and will provide directions to business located east or west of the interchange. The cost of for a sign panel will be an annual fee of $300 and an initial fee of $800 per sign panel. Participation in the Wayfinding Sign Program will be on a first response basis. The Town of Plainfield believes this is an excellent opportunity to provide a public service by providing directions to specific Points of Interest, and not only provide directions to businesses or entities, but also provide excellent exposure for businesses or industries located in Plainfield in an attractive and cohesive manner on some of our main thoroughfares.
