Coach’s Corner: Well another year of track and field has come to an end. As I reflect back on this year, all I can say is “Wow, what a season for Texas State track and Field.” This outdoor season brought a lot of excitement for the track and field program. We started off by hosting an Elite Meet at our facility that brought teams like, Arkansas, UCLA, Texas and Illinois to our beautiful campus. We had several athletes earn conference Athlete of the Week honors during the outdoor season and lead the performance list in several events. Numerous school records were rewritten as well. The season culminated with Bobcat domination at the outdoor WAC Championships where we sweept the Men’s and Women’s Outdoor titles. We also garnered the Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Year, the men’s High-Point Scorer of the meet and two Coach of the Year Honors. The Bobcats also sent 22 athletes to the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in Austin, Texas. From there, we had three athletes go on to represent us at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. To say the least, it has been a banner year for the Texas State Track & Field program. As we look over all we accomplished this season, we are more excited than ever for next year. My staff did an amazing job in recruiting this year, and we are really pleased with the caliber of talent we were able to bring in. We will face a new challenge next year as we enter into the Sun Belt Conference, but I feel like we are prepared to meet the challenge head on!

We are asking you to continue to support our program as we strive to reach new heights. As always, we are asking if you will consider helping our program by donating to the Golden Spike Club. These financial contributions help us to continue to build a winning tradition here at Texas State. We have high goals and a very clear vision for where we want to take this program. You have all been a part of laying that foundation and we ask that you continue to be a part of this program. Thanks for your time and consideration. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable summer and, as always, it’s a great day to be a Bobcat! Dana Boone Head Coach

To the Golden Spike Club, Thanks for Your Support!!! Once again we want to thank all of you who where members of the 2012-13 Golden Spike Club! We were able to send two athletes to the USA Junior National Championships. These athletes represented Texas State University very well, just barely missing the cut for the 2013 World Championships, while competing against the best athletes this country has to offer under the age of 20. Thanks again to the following people for making this possible! Catherine Dowling Gene Kosarek Ed Mahoney James Manning Derek Matthews Gary Rush Jason and Kara Tarr The Golden Spike Club serves as a booster organization that supports the needs of the Texas State Track and Field/Cross Country program. Your donations will help fund athletes who qualify for USA Championships and Junior Nationals, purchase new equipment, and help support the day-to-day operations of the track and field program. Information on the 2013-14 Golden Spike Club will be sent out later this summer. Or feel free to contact: Bryan Jackson 512-245-3295 [email protected]
