Trebol Advanced Player Academy – Program Description Trebol is a youth soccer club dedicated to developing players of all levels. So that we are better able to meet the needs of our most talented/developed/advanced players, Trebol is launching the Advanced Player Academy concept. The Advanced Player Academy (APA) has been created to provide additional developmental opportunities for the club’s most gifted soccer players. Not only do we intend to further develop the playing capacity of these individuals, but we would also like to help to further develop the entire individual – not just the soccer player. The Advanced Player Academy will consist of the following components: 1) Showcase Team – One of the goals of this program is to provide the most advanced players an opportunity to combine with other advanced players at the Club (from a different birth year) to form a Showcase Tournament Team. The sole purpose of this team would be to compete in a few showcase tournaments each season. The players that make up the team would represent more than one birth year. These teams would be coached only by the Club’s technical staff (Erich Delfs, Ivan Jackson, Mark Harrison, Temo Gonzalez). -Boys – 1999 Boys, 2001 Boys, 2002 Boys, 2003 Boys, 2004 Boys, 2005 Boys, 2006 Boys (30) -Girls – 2000 Girls, 2001 Girls, 2002 Girls, 2003 Girls, 2004 Girls, 2005 Girls (30) 2) Advanced Training – Players selected to be part of the APA will receive additional training throughout the season. Again, ONLY technical staff will be taking these additional training sessions. These sessions, much like a weekly technical session, will be conducted on a regular basis and scheduled based on team training days/times. We also intend to include classroom sessions at the office to be able to examine advanced tactical concepts with APA members. -Once per week during season (7:30-9:00, Wednesdays for Fall 17) 3) Guest Sessions – In addition to the sessions run by Trebol’s technical staff, APA candidates will also enjoy training sessions run by guest trainers. Such sessions would be conducted by local area college coaches, as well as other prominent local soccer experts. 4) Leadership Training – Candidates for the APA must meet more than soccer goals and challenges. Candidates must maintain a specified GPA at their schools to be eligible to participate and must maintain a specified GPA to remain in the program. In addition, APA candidates will be required to fulfill a specified number of community volunteer hours to remain in the program. Part of being a leader is giving back to the sport and the community that has provided them with this opportunity. As such, APA members will be certified to referee youth soccer matches as part of their inclusion in the APA. APA members will also be exposed to basic coaching education courses so that once complete, a player has the ability coach and referee youth matches. Important Notes: Players accepting positions in the APA are not permitted to miss ANY of their team events. In other words, players will be 100% invested in their own teams by attending all games and practices. Participation in the APA MUST not detract from their own team. Scholarship players are eligible for enrollment within this program. The Technical Staff Committee has the sole right to accept or decline enrollees into the program. There are additional costs associated with this program: o Registration Fee: $100/SEASON (covers staff costs, field costs, APA jersey) o Showcase Tournament Fees Selection Criteria o Player must be ranked in top half of team per latest evaluation o Player must receive a recommendation from the team coach o Player must have demonstrated a high level of commitment by attending all team events o Player must be in good financial standing with the Club o Player must carry a minimum of a 3.0 GPA at their current school o Player must remain in good standing with school administration Summary The purpose of the Advanced Player Academy is to provide exceptional development opportunities to those advanced players that may not be getting challenged enough on their own team in league play and are looking for chances to compete at a high level. The program provides an outlet for our top players to expand their scope of learning while being pushed in the most competitive environment we can manufacture. The program also serves to remind the players of the responsibilities of the more gifted – to give back, to help grow and develop our game in our community, to set an academic example as well as an athletic example to our teammates and peers.
