Trojan Baseball Alumni Association FOURTH ANNUAL HOMECOMING BANQUET SUNDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 11TH, 2012 IN THE FOUNDERS ROOM OF GALEN CENTER
“THE FABULOUS ‘50’S” The 1950’s certainly were fabulous for the USC Baseball Team, as they served as the “cornerstone” of what would be named in 1999 “The Collegiate Baseball Program of the 20th Century.” The decade began with an exhibition game against the New York Yankees in 1951 in which rookie Mickey Mantle hit two tape-measure home runs, continued in 1955 with a historic and unprecedented trip to the Far East, saw USC dominate the California Intercollegiate Baseball Association with 9 conference titles in the 10 years, and was capped by a National Championship in 1958 and what, arguably, should have been another in 1959! With that background, we invite you, your family, and your friends to join us for our Fourth Annual Homecoming Banquet, when we will reminisce about those Fabulous ‘50’s with many Trojan Legends, plus we will look into the future with USC Baseball Coach Frank Cruz, his coaches, and the 2013 Trojan team. And as always, we will pay homage to other USC Sports as well – USC Athletic Director Pat Haden will once again “lead off” with some opening remarks, we’ll get the latest on USC Football from Special Teams Coach John Baxter and Garry Paskwietz of WeAreSC.com, and Basketball Coaches Kevin O’Neill and Michael Cooper will give us their outlooks for the 2012-2013 campaigns.

Trojan Baseball Alumni Association FOURTH ANNUAL HOMECOMING BANQUET SUNDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 11TH, 2012 IN THE FOUNDERS ROOM OF GALEN CENTER
Here are more details on this exciting program! •
Former Trojan, MLB star and well-known broadcaster Ron Fairly will serve as our Master of Ceremonies for the evening, and we’ve invited five more Trojans who played in the “Fabulous ‘50’s” to join Ron in a panel where they can share their experiences from this wonderful era – “locked in” thus far are former MLB star Don Buford, who was a key part of the 1958 and 1959 teams, Bill Heath, catcher for those same two teams and who also enjoyed a stint in the big leagues, and Stan Charnofsky, who was playing second base when “The Mick” hit his two shots in 1951, and who also hit .362 that year and then .350 the next.
•
Our 2012 TBAA Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Paul Salata, a member of the 1948 National Champion Baseball Team, a three-time letter winner in USC Football, a former NFL player, and the creator of the “Mr. Irrelevant” Award for the last player picked in the annual NFL draft.
•
Per our established tradition, we’ll close the event with remarks from Frank Cruz, who will introduce his 2013 team and coaches, and give us his insight on what we can expect from the squad next season.
What a great way to cap off a spectacular Homecoming Weekend! Don’t miss out on this chance to swap stories with a superb group of Trojan Alumni and hear the latest on USC Baseball and other sports. ALL supporters of Troy are welcome, but seating will again be limited, so please complete and submit your reservation form with payment today!
