ES PE unveils new PE units for Spring….by Doug Brotherton As Elementary PE transitions into the third trimester, we are excited to offer our third, fourth, and fifth graders three new units. The three units will be T-ball, field hockey, and tennis. T-ball is similar to baseball, but allows students to hit a ball that is placed on the top of a

stand. Field hockey is a sport that is rapidly growing in America, which has principles similar to soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse. Tennis might be the most exciting, due to the fact that The Village School just opened the new Tennis Courts. As a PE department, we are always looking for

ways to bring excitement to our students. These three units should be a nice change of pace, and could introduce your child to an exciting new sport.

Winter Sports Recap…….by Kevon Bagot This winter has been a tremendous season for the athletic department. Our male and female varsity student athletes have shown great toughness and athletic ability over the winter season. The boys’ basketball team got off to a great jump with a 15-0 start. The Vikings proved to have a promising season. The boys had a great playoff run making it to the final four in their drive to the State Championship. The Vikings have won 3 major tournaments including the Northland Christian Invitational and knocked off TAPPS Conference powerhouse Second Baptist on two different occasions. The girls basketball program made history, becoming the first girl’s athletic team to qualify for the TAPPS State Tournament. The team increased their win total for the fourth straight season, finishing with a record of 24 wins and 7 losses. This included a run to

the TAPPS 4A State Quarterfinal. The team also took care of business in the classroom, with zero girls academically ineligible for the fourth straight season, including three girls selected to the TAPPS Academic All-State team.

10 school records this season. The girls are making a positive turn under the direction of first year coach Katelyn Rhodes. This season the team has accomplished so much; Most wins in school history, least goals scored against, most goals scored, and most shutouts at 5.

The Vikings Boys’ Soccer team has done it again, making their run to a State Championship seem tranquil, but this was no easy task. The big bull’s eye was tattooed on their back. The Boys’ Soccer team was labeled the team to beat. The Regular season play was finished at 17-1 with a State Championship in hand. There were a few physical battles, familiar games, and long road trips. The Vikings didn’t flinch once, meeting all competitors head on. Girls Soccer jumped out with a 5-0 record, which was the best start for them in school history. The Lady Viking Soccer Team broke

With the remarkable efforts of our coaching staff and the dominant performance of our Viking Athlete’s the future of Viking Athletics looks to be very promising. Our growth and success comes with hard work, long hours, and countless sacrifices of both student athletes and coaches. As we turn our focus to the Spring Season the resiliency and determination of our department will carry over as we all have high expectations. As for our winter success, all I can say is “We Are VILLAGE”
