TWEED RIVER FOREST LOCATION

SITE DESCRIPTION

Tweed River Forest is located in the central Vermont towns of Stockbridge and Pittsfield. The village of Pittsfield is a quintessential Vermont town, nestled in a valley carved by the Tweed River. From here, mountains rise to the west and east providing a sense of majesty as well as retreat. Route 100, a state-designated scenic drive, winds through the valley connecting the quiet and serene village with other Vermont communities and recreational opportunities.

Tweed River Forest offers a compelling blend of homesite opportunity and woodlot investment. The Tweed River runs along the property’s road frontage, providing easy access to the river for fishing, swimming and relaxing. Few cars travel along this private road, making the area a quiet spot to enjoy the river. Many of the Tweed River’s tributaries are cold-spring-fed, originating from the eastern flanks of the Green Mountain Range. This provides natural trout reproductive habitat and supports a wild trout fishery.

For all the necessities, Rutland, Vermont’s second largest city, is located 24 kilometers to the southwest. Interstate 89 is 26 kilometers to the east, for easy access to Boston (2.5 hours to the southeast) and the coast, while New York City is a 5-hour drive to the south.

Starting on the banks of the Tweed River, the property rises sharply in elevation. The land offers a two gently sloped benches with widening views from the south to the north. The lower bench offers an attractive homesite tucked among a maturing forest grove.

ACCESS The property is accessed by a private road along the Tweed River just south of Pittsfield Village. Houses along this road are well maintained, each with a unique architectural design. Electricity and other utilities are available roadside. The road provides access to the northwestern corner of the property where a small, level area provides an adequate location to facilitate future forest management activities. From here, a driveway could be constructed (although it would require considerable excavation) to access a possible site for home A private road accesses the property and leads to a development. possible driveway entrance.
