Two Good Farms CSA July 5, 2016

In this week’s share:

Welcome to the fifth week of the Two Good Farms CSA! We EOW = Every Other Week S = Small F = Full

hope you enjoyed your Fourth of July weekend, and we’re happy to bring you back into the swing of things with this week’s share. Our fennel has had a phenomenal start, and together with this week’s basil would make an excellent pasta sauce. You can’t beat our beets on the grill, and our potatoes are only a week from harvest. Finally, we’ve gotten our cucumber plants trellised and yielding, so hopefully cucumbers will be included in your box sometime in the

upcoming weeks! We’ve run into quite a few questions about how to cook with fennel, and the best advice that we’ve received has been either to shred it into a salad or dice it into a pasta sauce. Take a nibble on one of the fronds to get a sense of the taste, which is similar to anise. A returning Sicilian customer at market swears by its addition to pasta sauce, and we’ve benefitted from his advice in ths past. A simple pairing with this week’s basil would add mountains of flavor to any pasta sauce. Salad or sauce, we hope that you can

benefit from our fennel’s volume and flavor. On the topic of massive veggies, this week’s largest kohlrabi weighed in at a remarkable seven pounds! Unfortunately it wouldn’t fit inside of any of the share’s boxes, and had to be sold at market. Regardless, the kohlrabi that fills this week’s boxes all are just as massive, and would be fantastic in a coleslaw split half and half with cabbage. How to contact us Email:
