zuótiān fàng le táifēngjià, dànshì fēng yǔ bù suàn tàidà, juéde yǒudiǎnr jiǎoxìng。 Yesterday we had a typhoon day, but the wind and rain wasn't that bad, so I felt a little lucky.
B:
lǎoshi shuō, wǒ bù xǐhuan fàng táifēngjià。 To be honest, I don't like getting off work for typhoon days.
A:
How is that possible?
B:
yīnwèi wǒmen gōngsī táifēngjià bù gěi xīnshuǐ, yějiùshìshuō wǒ zuótiān shǎo zhuàn le yītiān de xīnshuǐ。 Because our company doesn't pay us for typhoon days, which is to say, yesterday I lost a day's pay.
A:
hǎo bùkěsīyì ā, wǒ yǐwéi měi ge rén dōu xǐhuan fàng táifēngjià。 That's unbelievable, I thought everyone liked typhoon days.
Not necessarily, if you're the boss of a company or if you're a labourer like me that doesn't get paid for typhoon days, you definitely wouldn't like typhoon days.
A:
wǒ kěyǐ lǐjiě, duì zīfāng láishuō jiùshì sǔnshī yītiān de yíngshōu。 I understand, for employers it is a lost day of revenue.
B:
duì mǒuxiē láofāng láishuō yě shì sǔnshī, xiàng wǒ yīyàng。 bìjìng fǎlǜshàng méiyǒu guīdìng táifēngjià shì yǒuxīnjià。 To some labourers it is also a loss, like me. Given that legally there's no law that typhoon days have to be paid holidays.
A:
duì hěn duō fàngjià de rén láishuō, tāmen juéde fàng táifēngjià shì zhuàndào yītiān xiūjià, hái chūqù kàn diànyǐng guàng bǎihuò gōngsī, wǒ hěn bù xǐhuan zhèyàng。 To many people on holiday, they think that a typhoon day is like getting another day of holiday. They can even go to the cinema or go shopping at malls, I really dislike that.
B:
yīdiǎn yě méi cuò, táifēngjià de měiyì shì yào ràng dàjiā zài jiālǐ duǒbì zìrán de zāihài, bùshì yào ràng rén chūqù wán de。 You're not at all wrong, the nice thing about typhoon days is that everyone is supposed to shelter from natural disasters at home, not to get people to go out and have fun.
Even though the wind and the rain wasn't so strong on yesterday's typhoon day, I still stayed at home like a good little boy and didn't go gallivanting around.
B:
hěn guāi。 huàshuōhuílai, zuìhǎo de qíngkuàng háishì táifēng guīmó bù yào tài měngliè, dàilái de shānghài yuè xiǎoyuè hǎo, dàjiā dōu píng ān。 Good boy. Getting back to the topic though, it is best that typhoons aren't so violent, so that the damage they do is as minimal as possible, and everyone stays safe.
A:
But with small typhoons we don't get typhoon days...
