u7b - u6/7g AYSO Indoor Rules for 2017 GAMES: We are on a very tight schedule for these games. Please stress to your player’s parents to have their children at Pinnacle on time. Parking is difficult the first few weeks of the season. Games MUST start on time. We do not have the luxury of extending time. If a game starts late, it will still finish on time. Equipment Size 3 Ball will be used Shin guards (cannot play without them) Shirt (provided by the league) Shorts (not provided by the league) Socks must completely cover the shin guards. It is not recommended to wrap the sock over the shin guard. No jewelry (including earrings and watches). Earrings must be removed. Covering them with band-aids is not acceptable. Sweat Pants: Players can wear sweat pants. However, the player must still have socks on completely covering the shin guards. No exceptions. CLEATS: No shoes with metal or toe cleats. Eye glass straps are preferred but not required. U7 Indoor game rules: Play Format: The format for this season is as follows: U7 Girls and Boys: 5 vs 5 (no goalkeeper) The number of players fielded by both teams can be adjusted downwards based on player attendance for the game and both coaches agreeing. The ref must be notified. Play Length: Quarters are 8 minutes with 3 minutes in between quarters. Quarters end when the referee blows his or her whistle; not when the clock hits a certain time line. All games will end on time regardless whether they start on time. We will end game at the appropriate time – all the time. Half Time Procedures: We are giving each team a 4-minute half time. Three minutes into the half time the referee will whistle. You will have one minute to get your team ready and out on the field. This will help ensure that we stay on track time wise. Teams will switch ends of the field at the half. Coaching on the field: No coaches are to be on the field for U7 games Substitution: Substitutions are only on quarter break except for injury. If you have a player(s) who are fatigued, it might be best to move them to a less active position. Coaches should do their best to rotate positions. No player should play their third quarter until all players have played their 2nd quarter or are playing in their 2nd quarter. It does a young player no good to always play one position the whole game. The games in AYSO are about player development. Injuries during play: Any stoppage in play causing an injury or other occurrence not resulting from a foul will result in a drop ball restart. Players cannot play if bleeding. If a player is removed for injury, when they are OK have them re-enter the game on a stoppage in play for the person that went in to the game for them. Out of Bounds: If the ball goes out of the playing area, change of possession is made. If the ball goes over the side line it is a throw-in from where it went out. If the ball goes over the end line it is a throw-in from the closest corner. Throw Ins: If a throw in isn’t done correctly, the ref should show the player correct method and allow a re-throw. If the re-throw is still wrong, the referee will allow an additional try. If the throw is still wrong just let play continue. Corner Kicks & Goal Kicks: When the ball goes over the end line play will restart as a throw-in from the corner. Off-sides: There IS NO offside in U7. Direct Kicks: If a player intentionally commits any of the following acts, a direct kick will be awarded to the opposing team at the point of the infraction. Kicking or trying to kick an opponent Tripping an opposing player with the feet or body Jumping on or at an opposing player Attacking an opposing player from the rear Punching or trying to punch an opposing player Holding an opposing player with the hands or arms Pushing an opposing player with the hands or arms Carrying, hitting or throwing the ball with the hands or arms (except goalies)
Penalty Kicks: There are no penalty kicks in U7 Page 2 of 3
If there is a handball in the box, a direct kick is awarded from the top of the 18. Defense is allowed (but not required) to form a wall about half way between the 18 and the goal. Indirect Kicks: If a player commits any of the following acts an indirect kick is awarded at the point of the infraction. Dangerous play Head balls – not allowed at this level Slide Tackling – not allowed at this level Intentionally interfering with an opponent while not playing the ball Incidental Contact with the ball: A penalty is assessed if a player intentionally touches, catches, or hits the ball with his or her hands including fingers, wrist and arm (but not the shoulder). If the ball is unintentionally touched, no penalty will be assessed. The referee’s decision is final. Referees: Either youth or adult refereed. If you believe a call is incorrect, either let it go in the spirit of good sportsmanship or speak privately to the ref at the quarter or half break. Don’t “abuse” the refs. They’re trying to do a good job. Constructive criticism is fine, but don’t make it abusive. Remember your behavior sets an example for your team. Even if the call is wrong, life will go on. Sportsmanship: Coaches should do what they can to avoid running up the scores. Put the better players on the bench (assuming they’ve played their 2 quarters). If at any point in a game, one team has a lead greater than 5 goals, the losing team is allowed to add "1" additional player until there is a 5 goal difference. Let’s make this a good experience for the kids, coaches should be able to agree on this at the quarter breaks. Put the better players on defense. Ask the players to pass “x” amount of times before shooting. AYSO Indoor Contacts: Tim Adams Regional Referee Administrator
