CAMP DIRECTOR
Finishing his seventh season as the UIndy head coach, Stan Gouard has lifted the men’s basketball program back to national prominence with five straight NCAA tournament appearances, multiple All-America honors, a No. 1 ranking from his Division II peers, and 2013–14 GLVC Coach of the Year honors. The 2014–15 campaign marked his 18th in college ball, including four years as a student-athlete at Southern Indiana and John A. Logan College; seven as an assistant coach at USI, UIndy, and Indiana State; and seven as head coach of the Greyhounds (2008–present). Last year, UIndy won its most games in 50 years, finishing with a record of 25-6 and earning a program-first fifth straight tournament berth. With help from a seasonopening 17-game winning streak, the team spent nine weeks in the top 10 of the D-II coaches poll, including a two-week stay at No. 1. In 2013–14, UIndy finished 24-5, winning a GLVC East Division title and No. 2 regional seed. The Hounds defeated rival Bellarmine in the NCAA first round, and were ranked in the top 25 for 13 consecutive weeks, culminating in a No. 12 ranking in the final NABC poll. As a player, Gouard was nationally known, leading USI to its first national title in 1995 under coach Bruce Pearl. Gouard also led the Eagles to two GLVC titles and was twice named Division II National Player of the Year. He was recognized as the NCAA Division II Elite Eight Most Outstanding Player and MVP of the title game in 1994. While at Southern Indiana, Gouard’s teams earned an 82-12 record. He ranks third in scoring, fifth in rebounding, and first in steals. Gouard was inducted into the College Hall of Fame (1998), GLVC Hall of Fame (2003), and University of Southern Indiana Hall of Fame (2007). Following his collegiate career, Gouard played professionally for the Barrinquilla Ciamanes of Columbia, South America, leading his team to the 1999 championship. Gouard also led his Sundsvall Dragon team in Sweden to the playoffs. A native of Danville, Ill., Gouard earned his BS in communications from Southern Indiana.
