Aerial of the University showing the Centro Roberto Garza Sada de Arte site - the Gate of Creation
The project includes site design for one of the most significant architectural buildings in all of Latin America, the Centro Roberto Garza Sada de Arte - the Gate of Creation, by Tadao Ando. This building for the art and design school has spaces for design, research, teaching and exhibition as well as 22 laboratories and workshops. The project plan focuses on improving the sustainability of the 247-acre campus making the campus more walkable, and bikeable, designing a shift away from a vehicular orientation. Overall design strategies include the use of indigenous plant materials and natural water-retention and filtration for low maintenance landscaping. The project has LEED certification in progress for the Gate of Creation area.
