Upcycled Global Games’ Rings Round up your Olympic spirit and create these origami rings!
Time: 30 30
Materials scrap paper (in red, green, black, blue and yellow) ruler scissors pencil tape
Instructions
1
Take your blue piece of paper and cut it into a 3” x11” rectangle.

Fold your paper in half lengthwise with the blue side facing out. Open it back up. Then fold the two edges into the center line. Next, fold the paper in half again making a narrow rectangle.

Measure 2” from one end of the narrow rectangle. Fold the paper at a 45 degree angle at this point.

Next, flip the rectangle over and measure 1.75” from the last fold. Make another 45 degree fold at this mark. Repeat this step two more times, flipping the paper and creating 45 degree folds every 1.75” from the last fold.

Fold the last edge down at a 45 degree angle so the two ends of the paper are tucked together in the last fold. Secure on the back with a piece of tape.

Repeat steps 3 - 4 with the remaining four pieces of paper. Then, repeat step 5 with the black and red rings, securing them with a piece of tape. Leave the yellow and green rings open, so you can loop the rings together.

To connect your rings, place the blue and black rings next to each other. Loop the yellow ring through both the blue and black ring. Fold the last edge of the yellow ring down and secure with a piece of tape on the back. Repeat this step with the green ring looping together the black and red rings. Once your loops are attached, you’ll be ready to ring in the Olympics games with your upcycled decoration!
