MUTCD Updates The Railroad & Light Rail Transit Technical  Th R il d & Li ht R il T it T h i l Committee of the National Committee on  U if Uniform Traffic Control Devices is responsible for  T ffi C t l D i i ibl f proposed changes to MUTCD Part 8. The Technical Committee consists of  approximately 60 individuals dedicated to approximately 60 individuals dedicated to  improving Part 8 of MUTCD.  [10]

MUTCD Updates Another major effort underway within NCUTCD  A th j ff t d ithi NCUTCD is the Uniform Vehicle Code and specifically  R l Rules of the Road. f th R d The National Committee on Uniform Traffic Laws  The National Committee on Uniform Traffic Laws and Ordinances (NCUTLO) was disbanded  approximately 5 years ago approximately 5 years ago.

MUTCD Updates There have been no updates to the Uniform  Th h b d t t th U if Vehicle Code since. As a result, the following  T ffi C t l D i Traffic Control Devices have no supporting  h ti statutes: • Red arrows in traffic signals • Yellow arrows in traffic signals • Flashing yellow arrows in traffic signals [13]

MUTCD Updates The National Committee has established a Rules  Th N ti lC itt h t bli h d R l of the Road Committee to develop  recommended changes to UVC. d d h t UVC This committee will address changes to UVC to  support new traffic control devices that have  been added to MUTCD. [15]

MUTCD Updates The Railroad and Light Rail Transit Technical   Th R il d d Li ht R il T it T h i l Committee is working on a number of proposed  changes to MUTCD: h t MUTCD • Sidewalks at Grade Crossings – this is an  extensive change that has been  shepherded by Tim Huya of BNSF. Tim will  discuss this in detail during his  presentation in a few minutes.
