In-Season Sports Normal daily and weekly hour limitations for countable athletically related activities apply throughout finals week. There is no limitation on the number of countable athletically related activities that occur during an institution’s official vacation period. Out-of-Season Sports No countable athletically related activities are permitted during the week prior to the start of final examinations (December 7th) through the last day of exams or during an institution’s official vacation period (January 10th) Strength and conditioning coaches who are not countable coaches and who perform such duties on a department-wide basis may design and conduct specific workout programs for student-athletes, provided such workouts are voluntary and conducted at the request of the student-athlete. Regular practice hour limitations apply after winter break or when classes are back in session.

Institutional Vacation Periods Q: If an institution’s official catalog lists the vacation period as Thursday and Friday, if no classes are held on Saturday and Sunday may the institution consider them as part of the vacation period also and exempt those days from their season? A: Yes, provided no countable athletic related activities occur on those days
