Vision of Alumni Advisory Boards Alumni Relations Adviser: Vision: Chapters conduct two alumni events each year (fall/spring), send two newsletters to alumni each year and invite alumni to become involved in chapter activities  

Coordinate alumni involvement with chapter though phone-calls, e-mails and personal solicitations. Engage alumni by inviting alumni to attend recruitment events, encouraging alumni to speak on career opportunities and internships and having alumni assist with leadership retreats.

Chapter Management: Vision: Assist the chapter to conduct business efficiently and professionally, encourage attendance at both regional and national events and communicate effectively with the university, Province Archons and Regional Directors       

Assist the chapter in setting and evaluating goals Ensure that a member of the advisory board/chapter adviser is present at a minimum of two chapter meetings per month Ensure that a member of the advisory board/chapter adviser is present at a minimum of two Executive Council meetings per month Ensure that chapter is properly reporting membership and contact information to the province and Fraternity Service Center Maintain and use chapter by-laws Provide trained alumni support to undergraduates Hold at least one advisory board meeting a term, either in person or via conference call

Continuing Education: Vision: Chapters continually enrich their member’ fraternal experience by providing educational programming from alumni, professionals, university officials and other sources   

Encourage undergraduates to attend province, regional and national programming and events. Conduct members-education programming for the chapter. Engage alumni and community resources to deliver member-education programming with the chapter.

Financial Management: Vision: Chapters maintain an accounts-receivable balance with the Fraternity Service Center that does not exceed $50 per man by working with a budget, exercising fiscal responsibility and paying all bills on time  

Recruit an alumnus (or adviser) to assist the Eminent Treasurer with a budget, financial oversight and officer transition Recommend the use of a third-party billing company for direct billing of chapter dues and other fees.

Housing: Vision: Housing structures are compliant with all laws and housing codes, comparable to dorm and private housing in the community, and promoting the ideals of the Fraternity   

Work with house corporations to promote a clean, law-abiding and financially solvent housing experience Serve as a liaison between the chapter and Housing Corporation. Ensure that the house corporation operates as a separate entity and does not fulfill the role of the chapter adviser

Pledge Education: Vision: Pledge Education assimilates new members into the chapter; provides education about the Fraternity, university and community; and extends support from active members to enhance pledge’ collegiate experience.  

Assist our chapter in developing and maintaining a written pledge-education program. Eliminate any traditions or activities that could be considered hazing.

Pledge Education Certification Program: 

This program is designed to assist our Pledge Educators in learning how best to facilitate the learning of their new members using existing resources and best practices based on meaningful, enriching programming.

Recruitment: Vision: All undergraduate chapter members actively recruit members using established recruitment goals and strategies written in the chapter’s recruitment program   

Assist the undergraduates in recruiting new members Verify that prospective member are eligible for membership Encourage alumni to attend recruitment activities

Risk Management: Vision: Chapter create an atmosphere of active risk management that is safe for all members and guests by following laws, university regulations and Fraternity policies and conducting risk-management education.   

Share Minerva’s Shield with the chapter and provide a thorough overview of the Fraternity’s policies Assist members in developing and maintaining written risk-management programs and policies in accordance with Minerva’s Shield Have a prepared action-response sheet created for crises or emergencies, which includes protocols’ for situations like fires, fights, sexual assaults, alcohol poisoning, etc.

Ritual: Vision: Exemplifying excellence in Ritual, chapters perform all ceremonies, maintain Ritual equipment and emphasize the importance of Ritual by performing post-initiation session and thoughtful actives    

Monitor the chapter’s use of Ritual Assist in assuring that all chapters posses and maintain a complete inventory of Ritual paraphernalia. Conduct post-initiation workshops with the chapter or engage an alumnus to conduct a workshop Assist chapter members in discussing the Ritual in chapter meetings

Scholarship: Vision: Seeking to promote the highest ideals of scholarship, chapters provide programming and support for their members so that the chapter members can achieve grades commensurate with their potential  

Review grades to ensure that active members are in good academic standing Assist the chapter in developing scholarship programs that provides a structure and incentives for high academic achievement with pledges.

Service & Philanthropy: Vision: Chapters should engage with its communities by performing one chapter-wide service event each semester and by consistently promoting service for their individual members 

Encourage and be a resource for members in its philanthropic and community service endeavors

University Relations/Campus Involvement: Vision: In order to emphasize campus involvement, members should be involved in at least one other organization and communicate regularly with university officials 

Communicate with university Greek Life advisers or similar university official regularly
