The Tejas VOi™ Variable Orifice Insert Valve is designed to be deployed within a Tubing Retrievable Injec on. Valve (TRIV) and generate the flowing differen al pressure required to keep the valve in the open posi on during injec on. The novel design of the VOi Insert Valve allows for normal running procedures and standard post-installa on pressure tes ng. Once installed, the VOi requires a low ini al flow rate to reset both itself and the Integrity™ Valve to the fully closed posi on prior to full scale injec on. The VOi eliminates thro ling and poten al flapper damage at low flow rates by completely opening the TRIV prior to any flow through the system. While other Injec on Valves open at pre-determined rates with fixed orifice inserts, the Tejas Variable Orifice Insert Valve covers the en re range of customer specified injec on flow regimes. The unique orifice design opens in response to injec on flow and maintains an almost constant pressure drop, regardless of injec on flow rate. Using the VOi, in lieu of fixed orifice inserts, eliminates the need for costly wireline change-outs when the injec on rate changes over me. The VOi is designed to be versa le, reliable, and maintenance free. It is designed to operate up to the maximum allowable tubing / casing injec on rates. The Variable Orifice Insert may be recovered via wireline with the flapper closed for well safety. Addi onally, the TRIV may be temporarily locked open for full wellbore intervenon. When the VOi is re-installed into the TRIV, it will reset itself and the TRIV into the closed posi on with re-injec on flow. The Variable Orifice Insert Valve can also be run with a standard lock for any customer specified nipple profile for independent injec on control, or with another VOi in tandem for a cost-effec ve dual barrier back-flow safety system.
