match notes Opening Kick The Bullets play their season and home opener this evening as they take on the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen in a non-conference outing. All-Time Series Lebanon Valley holds a slight 5-4-2 lead over the Bullets in a series that started in 2002. The series has been marked by s ngy defense, as neither team has ever scored more than two goals. Seven matches have resulted in 1-0 score and an addional game ended as a scoreless draw. Last Meeting with Lebanon Valley Ge ysburg kept host Lebanon Valley off the scoreboard for over 98 minutes, but the Flying Dutchmen broke through with 1:33 le in the first overme to edge the Bullets 1-0 in the season opener for both teams last year in Annville. The Orange and Blue held a 10-6 shot advantage but could not dent goalie Taylor Reinhold, who stopped both of the Bullets' shots on goal. Sammy Bost scored the game-winner for LVC, finishing off a pass from Johnna Garbrick. Kiera LoŌus finished with two saves for the Bullets. Last Season Ge ysburg is coming off another solid year in which it qualified for the Centennial Conference playoffs for the seventh-straight season. The Bullets placed fi h in the Centennial Conference standings and in the CC first-round match, went on the road to beat Haverford in penalty kicks to reach the conference semifinals. For the year, Gettysburg posted a record of 8-8-2 and CC mark of 4-4-1.

Offense Returns The Bullets should feature an experienced offensive squad this season, as nine players who accounted for 16 goals of the team's 18 goals last year are back this year. Junior Lauren Miesemer led the team with four goals and two assists last season while classmate Samantha Esposito notched three goals and one assist. Meet the Captains Head Coach MaƩ GarreƩ will turn to a pair of senior defenders to fulfill the role of team captains this season in Gillian Sencindiver and Maddie Heaney. A two-year starter at center back, Sencindiver has played in 52 matches and made 45 starts over her career. Heaney, a converted forward, bounced back from an injury-shortened sophomore campaign to start all 18 matches at defender last season. Scouting Lebanon Valley  The Flying Dutchmen are coming off a stellar 2016 campaign in which they finished 12-6 and reached the MAC Commonwealth Conference semifinals.  The team lost several of its top performers from last season in Sammy Bost, who scored 19 goals, and Taylor Reinhold, who played nearly every minute in goal. However, the Dutchmen' return several scoring threats, including senior Meghan Ross, who scored nine goals a year ago, and junior Rileigh Jo EviƩs, who ne ed seven goals.
