MATCH NOTES
Opening Kick The Bullets put their undefeated record on the line this evening as they take on the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen in a non-conference matchup. The Series Gettysburg holds an 18-1 lead over Lebanon Valley in the all-time series that dates back to 1975. The Bullets have captured the last 17 decisions, with the Dutchmen's one series victory coming in 1976. The two sides have not met since 2011. Last Time Out On the strength of an early hat trick from senior Patrick Santini, the Bullets won their Centennial Conference opener with a 3-0 victory at Washington College this past Saturday. Santini drilled in three goals over the game's opening 16 minutes as he racked up his second career hat trick while continuing his sizzling start. His goals were set up by assists from senior David Murphy, freshman Sam Lerman, and sophomore Raff Mazzone. Sophomore Thomas Keane made four saves for a defense that has posted a shutout in each of its last two matches. Player of the Week Santini's hat trick vaulted him to Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week - his second selection already this season. For the year, he has racked up a Centennial Conference-leading 18 points on eight goals (tied for the conference lead) and two assists. His quick start has placed him among the scorers in Division III, as he currently ranks second in points per game (3.6) and fourth in goals per game (1.6). He is also tied for first in game-winning goals (four). Santini has scored in six straight matches, starting with his hat trick versus McDaniel in last year's season finale. Fast Start At 5-0, the Bullets are off to their best start since the 1998 team also won its first five matches of the
season. The Orange and Blue have outscored their opponents 13-3 thus far. In the Rankings Gettysburg has recognized at both the regional and national levels in the early going this season. The Bullets have appeared in each of the first two D3soccer.com Top-25 polls, moving up one spot to No. 20 this week. They have also been ranked No. 5 in each of the first two United Soccer Coaches Division III Mid-Atlantic Region polls. Last Meeting with Lebanon Valley James Rice '14 and Eric Hynes '12 scored just over three minutes apart spanning the first and second halves and the Bullets captured their season opener with a 2-1 victory at Lebanon Valley on Sept. 2, 2011. Gettysburg led 2-0 after Rice and Hynes converted before Chris Hall scored in the 68th minute for LVC. But Connor Darrell '14 preserved the victory for Gettysburg with a spectacular save in the final minute and finished with five stops.
