UTSA is now 1-9 all-time against Power 5 institutions. • UTSA is now 6-1 all-time in season openers, having won each of the last two. UTSA is now 4-1 in road season openers. • UTSA held Baylor to its lowest point total since Sept. 18, 2010 (TCU 45, Baylor 10). • Nate Gaines’ interception of Anu Solomon at the 8:29 mark of the first quarter was the first by a Roadrunner since Michael Egwuagu at the 5:50 mark of the third quarter of UTSA’s 45-25 win at Middle Tennessee on Nov. 5, 2016 [head coach Frank Wilson’s birthday]. • Marcus Davenport’s sack of Anu Solomon in the first quarter moved him into first on the UTSA all-time list with 14.5 sacks. Davenport supplanted Jason Neill’s (2011-12, ’14-’15) 14.0 sacks for the career record. • Dalton Sturm joined Eric Soza (2011-13) as only the second quarterback in UTSA history to rush for more than 700 career yards when he broke the threshold with a 14-yard rush early in the second quarter. Sturm finished the game with 98 yards to give him 780 career yards on the ground. • Josh Stewart’s seven-yard touchdown reception from Dalton Sturm near the end of the second quarter marked the sixth career receiving score for the Stewart (five from Sturm) and the 35th career passing touchdown for Sturm. • UTSA outgained Baylor 205-118 in the first half. The Roadrunners used a balance attack, totaling 101 yards on the ground and 104 yards through the air. • UTSA converted 7-of-10 third downs in the first half, while holding Baylor to 0-of-3. • Kerry Thomas Jr.’s 29-yard TD reception at the 13:35 mark of the third quarter tied him with David Morgan II for fourth on the UTSA all-time receptions list with 85. Moreover, the TD reception was the 14th of Thomas Jr.’s career, which extended his UTSA career record. • Dalton Strum rushed 12 times for a career-high 98 yards (8.9 avg.). Previous career high was 82 vs. Arizona State (Sept. 16, 2016). • Josiah Tauaefa and La’Kel Bass combined to sack Anu Solomon for a loss of five on 4th-and-2 at the UTSA 19-yard-line, collecting the Roadrunners’ first fourth-down stop of the season. • UTSA led 14-7 at the end of the third quarter, marking only the second time in program history the Roadrunners held a lead entering the fourth quarter against a Power 5 opponent (10 games). UTSA led Arizona State 28-16 through three quarters on Sept. 16, 2016 at the Alamodome. • Jalen Rhodes rushed 20 times for 103 yards (5.2 avg.), marking the second 100- yard rushing game of his career. • Yannis Routsas average 40.0 yards per punt with a long of 47-yards and placed three punts inside the 20. MISC. • UTSA kicked off at 7:05 p.m. CT, becoming the second to last FBS program to start its season. Only the University of Houston, who the Roadrunners were scheduled to play on Sept. 2 before the effects of Hurricane Harvey canceled the game, started its season later -- a 8:30 p.m. CT start at Arizona. • Today marked the 72nd game in UTSA program history. The Roadrunners have an all-time record of 33-39. • DT King Newton made his second career start [first career start was at UTEP on Oct. 22, 2016]. • UTSA played its 50th consecutive televised game.
