4 Rules •Start with the question •Plan the time •Take time to think •Draft and reflect
Start with the question ! This is how tutors mark work !
Blooms Taxonomy 2
Blooms Taxonomy 3
Start with the question ! What is being asked of you ? Generally the higher the question on Blooms Taxonomy the larger the word count. because more detail is required. Example ‘Describe your mobile phone’ Would take a lower word count than ‘Evaluate the usefulness of your mobile phone against your home computer’
Planning the time
“One of these days, is none of these days.” ~ Proverb
• Set aside time for your assignment , somewhere quite without interruptions. • Make sure you have everything you need, such as books, pens, paper Internet access. • Make a list of trigger vocabulary = Words or theory which are being asked for in the assignment -Tick them off as they are included.
Take time to think • Plan some reflection time where you ask what is the question really asking – ‘How do I evidence it in my work?’ • Check if you have used all the ‘trigger vocabulary’ , you have written in your list? • Keep asking yourself – ‘Am I doing enough to hit ‘Blooms taxonomy?’
Draft and reflect Do not be afraid to write something down, a draft is a way of getting your ideas out of your head an on to the paper! Once you have written it down, read it to yourself does it make sense ? Take a break and look at the work with fresh eyes, re draft if necessary.
