Week of Prayer for Associational Missions May 15-22, 2016 A bulletin insert for this emphasis is available to those churches who wish to have one. Contact us to have it sent to you. Prayer requests will be going out in the coming days.
May is the month that we observe the Week of Prayer for Associations. How do you define an association of Baptist churches? That was the question that was asked when we were coming up with the strategy of GCBA. The common answer was that it is a group of churches that work together to obey the Great Commission. That is a pretty good definition. God planned for his work to be done by people who share a common faith, doctrine, calling and passion for people. We in GCBA have those things in common. GCBA churches need your prayer. We face some real challenges/opportunities in 2016. We have population growth, we have an increasing ethnic diversity, aging churches, and opportunities to partner to make disciples and churches in the U.S. and around the world. These challenges are too big for us but not for our God. He is able. Let us approach His throne with confidence. He knows what we need and He is able to meet those needs.
We will be sending out daily emails with specific prayer requests. Please pray for these God sized challenges. Terry Coy will be our speaker for the May TEAM Meeting. He will be speaking on the topic of “Ministry and Missions in a Post Christian Culture”. Terry was the Director of the Missions team for the SBTC and is currently leading their Reach Houston Project. He will also share about that project. The meeting will be at Rosharon Bible Baptist Church on May 10th. The Mey is the pastor of this Cambodian Congregation. You will enjoy the culture and food of this sweet group of people. Donald

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER MAY 5, 2017 Look Up America - National Day of Prayer Pearland, TX—$10 Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the Pearland Ministerial Alliance with keynote speaker Greg Han Brazoria County National Day of Prayer 9:00 a.m. at Brazoria County Historical Museum in Angleton. Free sack lunch to the first 200 and seating under a huge tent. Interdenominational. Alvin National Oak Park National Day of Prayer 7:00—8:00 p.m. Right behind Alvin Library on Gordon Street.

May TEAM Meeting Speaker Dr. Terry Coy will be our speaker at our TEAM meeting on May 10th at Rosharon Bible Baptist Church. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. From 1992 to 2000, he served as Ethnic Ministry Consultant and Director of Church Planting with Tarrant Baptist Association. Dr. Coy served as a Director of Missions for nine years and also with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention from 2001 to 2015. He is the author of two books, “Facing the Change: Challenges and Opportunities for an American Missiology” and “Return to the Margins: Understanding and Adapting as a Church to Post-Christian America”. He is a speaker, concentrating on church and culture issues. Dr. Coy is also a Missions and Church Planting Consultant, helping with strategy development, team building, planter assessment, training and coaching.
