Agenda: Purpose and Expectations
Write down work to be done/finished at home Take home everyday Communicate regarding homework and behavior Parents signature or initials daily Mark minutes read each night daily at the bottom of the column
Paper Organization
All work handed in by 9:00 a.m. each morning Use organized system for filing all papers (newsletters, notes and assignments) at school and at home 4 Folders: ELA, Math, Daily Work, Go Home File graded papers at least until midterm, semester Provides reference for parents throughout the year

Grade Policy-Corrected Work
Work may need to be corrected if sloppy, incomplete, or shows lack of understanding (Grades may or may not be adjusted, depending on the assignment) Progress reports will be provided for students not making adequate progress
Grade Policy - Absences
If your child is going to be absent for several days, please contact me as soon as possible Bring written excuse/doctor note when student returns to school after absence At this point, some work will be assigned and some work will be completed upon return Students have the number of days they were absent plus one day to turn in work Example: If student is absent on Tuesday and returns to class on Wednesday, their assignment is due on Friday

How to prepare for tests
Complete daily work Correct daily work below 80% Participate in class reviews Keep at hand and use study guides when provided Study at home Ask questions for clarification
Reading
Variety of reading strategies used to learn reading skills Combination of novel study using monthly reading goals, Accelerated Reader, McGraw-Hill text Monthly Essential Skills will be assessed for mastery
Accelerated Reading
Students read books and take computer comprehension tests 3rd Grade Level Goal: 55 Students may use the same book for AR and 15 minute homework Weekly time in computer lab and classroom (additional times can be requested)
Math
Monthly Essential Skills will be assessed for mastery Manipulatives and real world applications will be used on a regular basis Mastery of math facts (+, -, x), place value, measurement conversions, fractions Facts in a Flash (Level 31) Go Math! and supplemental materials will be used throughout the year

Citizenship
Students receive weekly citizenship grades Students write points in agenda daily Students are expected to follow all school/ classroom rules and guidelines Students (individually & collaboratively) are rewarded for good citizenship
Celebrations
Birthdays: Store purchased treats may be sent in for the class to enjoy during lunch
Special Events: These are scheduled by the teacher(s)
