Position Summary
The General Manager, Government Relations & Host Cities will lead the team responsible for: •
building and maintaining strong and mutually beneficial relationships with Federal, State and Local Government and their key agencies
•
leading and implementing world class host city experiences and activations to engage with local communities and successfully deliver a ‘Spectacular Celebration’
Key Responsibilities
Government Relations •
Develop contacts and relationships with key Ministerial offices, Members of Parliament and key departments and agencies within all levels of Government across Australia:
•
Lead and manage Government and Stakeholder Relations Program Area across Australia
•
Manage daily communications with government and other stakeholders to navigate key issues of interest to the WT20
•
Work with National Government and its Departments to put in place the systems and arrangements necessary for the delivery of National Government services required for the tournament
•
Leverage strong relationships to ensure the WT20 is delivered as a world class event
•
Negotiate and put in place all Government commitments necessary for the staging of the event and as required by the ICC
Host City Relations •
Develop and lead the Host City Relations strategy, ensuring that Host City Managers on the ground are readily contactable and appropriately servicing local stakeholders
City Dressing & Activation •
Develop and deliver an innovative city dressing and activation strategy across all host cities to create hype around the tournament as a ‘Spectacular Celebration’
•
Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure all activations align with the brand strategy, and are appropriately marketed to gain maximum exposure
Special Events •
Develop and deliver world class special events to promote the WT20 as a celebration of cricket participation, arts, culture, business and technology
Protocol •
Develop and implement key controls and protocols surrounding activations and engagement with Members of Parliament and Senior Government officials

It is your duty to comply with the WT20’s policies and procedures which set out governance standards and manage risks for our organisations. You are responsible for being aware of and complying with the policies and procedures.
Duties under Workplace Health and Safety Requirements
It’s your duty to comply with WT20’s policies and procedures which are designed to protect your health and safety at work. As part of this duty, you must comply with all reasonable instructions from managers or WHS representatives in relation to health and safety issues at work. This means participating in workplace health and safety training and consultation, cooperating with WT20 procedures as required to ensure compliance with the law and reporting any incidents/near misses.
Key Position Requirements
Essential • Experience at federal, state or local Government level in Australia • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal • Relationship building skills – ability to liaise and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels • Strong organisational skills • Leadership – ability to build and inspire a collaborative and high performing team Highly Desirable • Previous public policy and government relations experience • Experience working within the sporting industry or in major events
