Position Summary

The General Manager, Venues & Operations will lead the team responsible for the presentation of WT20 venues, and the delivery of world class training and match experiences throughout the tournament, within approved budgets. This role will encompass all areas of venue readiness and event delivery, including broadcast and media operations, event presentation, security, cricket operations, transport, catering and accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

Cricket Operations •

Lead and manage the team responsible for Match and Training Operations



Work closely with curators and ground staff to ensure surfaces are to a world class standard, dealing with issues and concerns as they arise

Venue Operations •

Develop and implement Venue Readiness strategy, and develop key operational policies, procedures and processes



Create and drive a continuous improvement culture, including cost management, process design, delivery and compliance

Overlay & Logistics •

Develop and implement the event overlay plan, ensuring logistical and budget efficiencies



Work closely with venues and suppliers to ensure timely and compliant implementation of overlay

Travel & Transport •

Develop and implement the travel and transport strategy, working closely with local Road & Transport authorities to ensure efficient access and travel routes for competitors and fans

Spectator Services •

Work closely with venues to ensure that venue staff are consulted and briefed on ticketing builds and other key event elements to ensure a positive fan experience

Catering, Cleaning & Waste •

Develop and implement a catering plan for each venue, working closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery to teams, support staff and media as required



Work closely with venues to develop cleaning and waste management strategies to ensure venues are presented to the required standard, and appropriate infrastructure is in place to support and service crowd volumes

Broadcast & Media •

Ensure all venues are prepared to appropriately position broadcast partners and media stakeholders

Venue Technology •

Ensure that all venues are fitted with the appropriate technology infrastructure to service broadcast and media requirements

Security •

Develop and implement the WT20 accreditation program



Oversee the Security strategy to ensure the safety of teams, fans and staff, working closely with local law enforcement

Governance

It is your duty to comply with the WT20’s policies and procedures which set out governance standards and manage risks for our organisations. You are responsible for being aware of and complying with the policies and procedures.

Duties under Workplace Health and Safety Requirements

It’s your duty to comply with WT20’s policies and procedures which are designed to protect your health and safety at work. As part of this duty, you must comply with all reasonable instructions from managers or WHS representatives in relation to health and safety issues at work. This means participating in workplace health and safety training and consultation, cooperating with WT20 procedures as required to ensure compliance with the law and reporting any incidents/near misses.

Key Position Requirements

Essential • Extensive experience in venue management and operations within sport or a major events context • Operational – strong results and delivery focus, with exceptional attention to detail • Superior communication and presentation skills • Relationship building skills – enjoy engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders, with proven ability to influence • Leadership – ability to build and inspire a collaborative and high performing team • Ability to manage and control budgets Highly Desirable • An understanding and passion for the sporting and entertainment industry • Experience working within some or all of the WT20’s main venues (e.g. MCG, SCG, Gabba, Adelaide Oval, etc.)
