The Intramural Sports program reserves the right to put into immediate effect any new sport rule changes or modifications based on eligibility, league and tournament structure, or participant safety. I. Roster A. Each team shall consist of six players. Minimum of four players are needed to avoid a forfeit. Any combination of men and women. B. Maximum roster size: 10 C. Substitutions: Unlimited substitutions are allowed as long as one player does not occupy more than one position in the service order during a single set. II. Game Format A. Rally Scoring. B. Games last 10-‐15 minutes based on team entries. The team with the most points at the end of 15 minutes wins or pre determined points per set. C. In the case of a tie at end of regulation, play continues until a team is up by two points. D. Each team is allowed one timeout per game. III. Play A. Typical Intramural Volleyball rules are used as a reference in rules situations not established within these rules. B. No jewelry is allowed during play. C. Athletic attire and athletic shoes are required (i.e. No flip flops or bare feet). D. A maximum of three (3) hits per side is allowed. E. No heading or kicking the ball at any time. F. No leaning or sitting on the ball. G. A player cannot hit the net or step over the middle line while making a play. A. The wall, poles, or curtain are out of bounds. B. Trapping the ball in the net is not allowed. C. Lifts – due to the size of the ball lifts are permitted unless an official deems a player to have caught and thrown the ball. D. Player rotation is clockwise. E. Players can stand on one foot and stretch to hit the ball. F. Serving i. Server must serve from behind the 10’ line of a regulation volleyball court. ii. Two members standing behind the serve line may hold the ball up and server may hit it out of their hands. iii. Players may not attempt to block or attack another team’s serve. iv.
