White Hawks Football The White Hawks Way Dedicate yourself to a mighty purpose to be apart of something greater than yourself. Don’t ask to be deprived of tension & discipline, as these are tools that shape success. Do what has to be done, when it has to be done, as well as it can be done. Pay attention to detail. Always give your best. Ignore those who discourage you. Work to improve your moral and physical strengths. Remember that when you’re not working to improve, your competition is. How you conduct yourself off the field is just as important as how you conduct yourself on the field. Win with humility, lose with grace. Talent is God-given - Be Humble. White Hawks PRIDE “Building Winners in the Game of Life”

P Preparation R Respect I Intensity D Discipline E Effort F.A.M.I.L.Y.

White Hawks PRIDE Preparation: The state of having been made ready beforehand. One must take the time to prepare for the task at hand. The key to it all is preparation. Respect: The state of being regarded with honor or esteem. One must have a high level of respect for what they are doing. One must also have a high level of respect for who they are doing it for. The team, your coach, your family, and the community. Always have respect for these entities. Intensity: Exceptionally great concentration, power, and force. One must always have intensity in whatever they do. Always have great intensity when you are representing WHITE HAWKS football.

Discipline: Having a controlled obtained manner by enforcing one self to comply and be orderly. Be controlled and disciplined all times with whatever you do. One must have very strong discipline. Effort: A difficult exertion of the strength or will. One must always include effort in whatever they do. Without effort there is nothing.

F.A.M.I.L.Y.

White Hawks PRIDE White Hawks football players will be able to earn PRIDE stickers based on both their play on the field and their effort/attitude off it.

PRIDE

PRIDE

=

RED STAR: These can be earned by performing acts on the football field that are conducive with winning. The criteria for these pride stickers will be discussed during fall camp.

=

RED PRIDE: These can be earned by performing acts that are positive in the classroom and community. F.A.M.I.L.Y.

Practice Notes Practice Tempo: 1. Live: Full go all out tackle just as in a real game. While keeping in mind these our your teammates and we traditionally do not possess overwhelming numbers.

2. Thud: Full physical football with wrapping up just not taking all the way to the ground. The play ends on the whistle with the wrap up. The line of scrimmage should be just like a game. 3. Tap: Follow proper tackling technique with form and position. Take a good angle and mock follow throw. Do not wrap up, impede or make contact with offensive player. 4. Note: After any knock down or big hit always offer to PICK THAT PLAYER UP no matter the situation!!

Practice Gear: 1. Helmets: Helmets, Shorts, and Practice Jersey. 2. Shells: Helmets and Shoulder Pads. 3. Full: Every issued pad including Hip, Thigh, Butt, & Knee.

F.A.M.I.L.Y.

Team Rules Theory of Discipline: Discipline is having a controlled obtained manner by enforcing oneself to comply and be orderly. This means having rules for oneself and following team rules.

Addressing Coaches: Each player will refer to each coach as either Coach or Sir. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a REMINDER. Being on Time: Every player will show up to every meeting, training, game, practice and football function on what we call “Championship Time.” This means that you will be there 15 Minutes prior to the time that is posted and required. Attendance: If you are late and it is not excused ahead of time you will have a REMINDER after practice. If you are late and it is excused ahead of time you will have a REMINDER after practice. Once a player has missed practice 2 times for any reason, they will miss at least 1 half of game participation for each additional missed practice. If a player misses 4 practices for any reason, they will be suspended from the team until a meeting with Coach David and the player’s parents has occurred to discuss the player rejoining the team. Missing practice for a funeral, family emergency, or due to sickness that causes them to miss at least 4 hours of school will not count towards these totals as long as they are communicated to Coach David prior to practice. Uniform Dress Code: We are a team and a team walks, talks, and looks alike. You will not be an individual on our team. The only thing that shall set you apart as an individual is your jersey number and the productivity of your play on the field. If a shirt or compression shirt is desired under the jersey, it must be the designated colors (red or white). No bandannas, doo rags, wristbands, head bands, or jewelry of any kind will be worn during games or practice. If purchasing shoes, please purchase black or red & white. If you feel you need to purchase your own chin strap, purchase a white one. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a REMINDER. Game Day and Travel Dress Code: Game jersey and nice pants (no baggy pants or holes). No hats or any head gear of any kind is permitted on the bus. Failure to comply will result in a REMINDER.

In addition to the rules and policies of the White Hawks Football program, all players must adhere to the rules and guidelines of ISD #277 and the MSHSL.

Team Rules Conduct with Opponents: Show respect for your opponents at all times. Show it before, during, and after the game. No taunting, jarring, or fighting with your opponents. Locker Room: All equipment and personal items will be stored in a locker that is LOCKED. Nothing will be left out on the floor. If you see something where it doesn’t belong, pick it up and put it away! Theft of anything from anyone will result in instant removal from the team. School, Academics, and GPA: Academics are the main reason that you are here and football comes second. Remember the term student athlete, the word student comes first for a reason. If a player does not want to be a student then they shall not be an athlete. Failure to attend class, behave in class, and perform at an adequate academic level will result in the loss of playing time or removal from the team. If a player is to fail a class it will result in removal of captain status and loss of post season accolades. There will also be a REMINDER.

NO Swearing: No swearing, period. Not during practice, games, or football functions. Failure to comply will result in a REMINDER. Weight Training: Weight training is considered a part of practice. Failure to attend and be on time for weight lifting sessions will result in the same consequences as a missed practice. Conduct with Officials: No player at any time is allowed to talk with any official with the exception of the captains. This communication is reserved only for the coaches and the captains. Don’t complain about calls, once its done its done. If any player decides to break this rule they will be removed from the game and be subject to a REMINDER. Negative Chemicals: This is very simple no player shall use, purchase, be around or even think about negative chemicals. This is any type of illegal drugs or alcohol. This violation will result in punishment according to the MSHSL and ISD #277 rules, removal of captain status, and loss of post season accolades. Of course this will also include a significant REMINDER or removal from the team. In addition to the rules and policies of the White Hawks Football program, all players must adhere to the rules and guidelines of ISD #277 and the MSHSL.

Team Rules Personal Conduct Violation: This is a rule designed to control your personal character and your decision making in life. This rule states that anything you are willing to do you should be willing to do directly in front of Coach David. If you are not willing to perform this action right in front of Coach David than simply do not do it at all. Failure to comply will result in removal of captain status and loss of post season accolades. There will also be a REMINDER and possible removal from the team. Game Bench Behavior: Helmets will be worn by all players unless receiving medical attention. Players will not be talking with or gesturing towards fans. After each series, players are to immediately meet as a unit with the field coordinator. Failure to comply will result in a REMINDER. Injured or Sick Player: Injured and sick players that are not able to practice are still expected to be at practice. There is a lot of learning that goes on during football practice on a daily basis so players are expected to attend practice unless their parents communicate ahead of time with Coach David.

Lost or Damaged Equipment: You are responsible for the equipment issued to you. You will be charged for any unreturned equipment. Lock your equipment at all times. If you lose a piece of equipment, check out a new piece through Coach David. Equipment left in lockers one week after the end of the season will be removed and stored in the equipment room. Equipment sign-out sheets will be used to match up numbers to those they belong to. All missing items after this will result in a fine to the student who checked it out. Facebook/Twitter: We live in an era where there is social media. Everyone is one cell phone picture, Facebook post, or tweet away from downfall. Let it be understood that anything one posts on Facebook or tweets on Twitter is the same as standing up in a room and yelling it. If you are not willing to say it here DO NOT say it online. It still travels and perhaps even more so online. Failure to comply will result in a REMINDER or removal from the team. Bus Riding Policy: ALL players will travel with the team from the departure site to the location of the event and back. The only exception is if you are hurt and a doctor clears you to go home with your parents. In addition to the rules and policies of the White Hawks Football program, all players must adhere to the rules and guidelines of ISD #277 and the MSHSL.

White Hawks Football White Hawks 4 Core Rules 1. Never Quit 2. Never Whine 3. Never Get Embarrassed

4. Give Everything You Have for Each Other F.A.M.I.L.Y.

White Hawks Football Don’t Quit When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, When funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don’t you quit. Life is weird with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won if he’d stuck it out. Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor’s cup, And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out, The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit, It’s when things seem worst that You Must Not Quit! -Anonymous F.A.M.I.L.Y.

White Hawks Football Commitment I _____________________ understand that playing football is a privilege and brings with it certain duties and responsibilities. I have an obligation, in representing my school and the great game of football, to conduct myself properly. As such, I agree to the principles and rules listed in the White Hawks Football Player Handbook as part of my commitment to this football program.

I understand that to be the best takes a tremendous amount of commitment. This commitment, while not always guaranteeing victory, will insure that I will perform at the highest level possible at all times. The pursuit of excellence is not a sometimes thing. Therefore I agree to:

PRACTICE LIKE A CHAMPION, PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION, & LIVE LIKE A CHAMPION IN ALL THAT I SAY AND DO!

By agreeing to these basic rules and principles, I understand that my failure to follow them can result in my membership on the football team being terminated. It is not the intent of this pledge to remove athletes from this program. It is however, to set a standard of excellence throughout the football program that will help you become a better young man and a better football player.
