What Is Kentucky Gives? KY Gives is an opportunity for Kentuckians, near and far, to come together to make donations to Kentucky charities in an effort to raise as much money as possible in 24 hours. On December 1, 2015, from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm EST, supporters of Kentucky nonprofits will go online, connect with causes they care about and make tax-deductible donations. Supporters will search for participating nonprofits and simply click to donate. This year, KY Gives is one of many efforts being held to promote the global day of generosity called #GivingTuesday. By engaging as many donors as possible to give to their favorite Kentucky charities, KY Gives on #GivingTuesday showcases the collective power of philanthropy.
How Does KY Gives on #GivingTuesday work? Donors can simply use the search function to either browse for organizations of their interest or find a specific organization of their choice to make a donation.
Why should I care about KY Gives on #GivingTuesday? KY Gives is an innovative online fundraising event that provides a way for Kentuckians (and beyond) to support their favorite charities. Donations made on the KY Gives on #GivingTuesday site are an investment in these organizations working to create a stronger Kentucky. The online giving platform makes finding and donating to charity easy and fun. Organizations participating in Kentucky Gives are eligible for thousands of dollars in incentive prizes and many organizations have secured matching funds. Online giving is a very affordable way for charities to raise needed funds for their mission and tell their story.
Who created this event? KY Gives is a collaboration of the Kentucky Nonprofit Network, in partnership with participating nonprofits and corporate and media partners. The third annual KY Gives event is being held on #GivingTuesday, December 1, 2015. #GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 and the global movement engages over 30,000 organizations worldwide. Kentucky Nonprofit Network is Kentucky’s state association of nonprofits and was founded in 2002. Over 535 members strong, KNN exists to strengthen and advance Kentucky’s nonprofit community by providing access to quality and affordable professional development and technical assistance resources. [email protected] Frequently Asked Questions for Donors Who can participate in KY Gives on #GivingTuesday? Any 501 (c) 3 nonprofit registered in Kentucky and schools may participate in KY Gives. Any individual may donate. Donations through KY Gives to participating nonprofit organizations are tax deductible and irrevocable (donations will not be refunded). Contributions at kygives.org may be made via credit and debit card only. How do I make a donation? On December 1, 2015, visit kygives.org to search for the charities you want to support, click “donate” to enter the appropriate donation information. There is no maximum donation limit. Who is the Razoo Foundation? The Razoo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that exists to promote and provide online charitable giving solutions that support a new era in philanthropy. By leveraging secure and efficient technologies, the Razoo Foundation seeks to provide robust, high-value, low-cost end-to-end solutions for donors and nonprofits to easily fundraise and engage in charitable giving activities. Why online giving? Online giving rose 13% in 2013 and is an affordable and effective way for the causes you care about to raise needed funds and tell their story. All fundraising activities have a cost for the nonprofit – direct mail typically costs $1.25 per $1 raised to acquire a new donor, special events typically cost $.50 per $1 raised and grants typically cost $.20 per $1 raised. Raising $1 online typically costs $.08 – making it a very affordable fundraising tool for nonprofits, especially smaller organizations. How much of my donation will go to the nonprofits? The Razoo Foundation retains 6.9% plus $.30 per transaction to cover credit card processing fees, customer service support, online platform maintenance and event management. New this year, you can elect to cover these costs at checkout. 100% of the donation will be tax-deductible for you, the donor, as is applicable by law.

The organization(s) you choose to support will receive your name and contact information, unless you choose to make your contribution “anonymous” at checkout. As host of KY Gives, Kentucky Nonprofit Network will receive contact information for donors who participate in KY Gives and do not give anonymously. This information is used solely to thank the donor for participating, provide the option to opt-in to receiving future notifications from Kentucky Nonprofit Network and to notify the donor of future KY Gives activities. It is the policy of Kentucky Nonprofit Network to never sell or distribute submitted information to any third parties. Your information is used internally for KNN purposes only. Can I get a refund? All donations are final and cannot be refunded. Do I need to have an account with Razoo to donate? No, you do not need to create an account to make a donation. However, if you plan to give multiple times or to multiple charities during KY Gives, creating an account means you only have to enter your credit card information once. Your account also collects your tax receipts in one location, enables you to track your donation, review the charities you support and schedule future giving. How do I get a tax receipt? Your tax receipt is e-mailed to you immediately by Razoo Foundation upon successful processing of your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please retain your email donation receipt as an official record.
