From the JM Health Team A New Year has begun and I am sure we all have made resolutions to improve our health. Well below are a few thoughts on how you could keep your resolution. • Walk each day, if able and use a pedometer to keep track of your steps taken, aim for 10,000 steps each day. • Do strength training for at least 20 minutes, two to three times per week. One hint if you don’t have weights use you own body as the weight or a heavy book. • Eat a fish meal, tuna, salmon or other darker type of fish, twice a week. • Drink water. • Reduce your use of sugar and caffeine. • Quit smoking or using any tobacco products. • Eat healthy balanced meals. Such as, more vegetables and protein than starch or carbohydrates.
We invite you to stay following worship to help take down the greenery from the sanctuary. See Chyrl Budd if you are able to help. Western District Know Your Job Training Event January 28, 2017 At Milton United Methodist Church

As we conclude the Season of Advent, the start of the Christian Year, with our Christmas celebration, we are looking to start 2017 with Epiphany Sunday on January 1, and then spend the next two months in the Season after Epiphany. Our theme for this time is “The Great Invitation,” and it is a time to prepare our church for the work of preparing people to live out the way of Jesus during the season of Lent that follows. This Season after Epiphany is “bookended” on January 8 with the Baptism of the Lord Sunday, and ends on February 26, Transfiguration Sunday. Throughout this season, we will be called to remember and emphasize the beginning and the glorious end of the discipleship journey we’ve undertaken, as we actively invite others to join in during these weeks. Between these two bookends, Paul’s letters to the Corinthians will help us identify and address internal issues that may be hindering us, the church, from doing our Lenten formational work well. The Old Testament and Gospel readings will lead us to extend Christ’s invitation to “come and see” with us what Christ is all about and what discipleship to Christ looks like. Join us this new year in a worship series called “The Great Invitation”!
