Unit 2: All About Creation
Devotion: On the sixth day of creation, God made Adam and Eve. He created Adam from the dust of the earth and breathed life into him. God charged Adam with naming all the animals in the world. What an amazing job to be given! Adam began to meet and name all the animals, even so He did not find any that were his equal - like him. Therefore God put Adam in a deep sleep and took out one of his ribs. From that rib, God created Eve to be Adam’s wife. Even though Adam and Eve would later sin by disobeying God, they were the very first mom and dad. From Adam and Eve’s children, grand children, great grand children, and so on, came all the people of the world!
Crafts/Activities: • First Parents. Take a look at a simple family tree. (Look up “simple family tree” online and there will be plenty of examples to choose from.) Show them where to put the parents and children in the tree. Discuss how Adam and Eve were the very first parents in the whole world and that we all come from them. Every family tree has Adam and Eve at the very top as the first mom and dad.

Who Were Our First Parents? Adam and Eve were our first parents.
Detail of Adam and Eve, by Lucas Cranach the Elder (Public Domain) Family trees, or lineage, were very important in Bible times. The Jewish people carefully recorded genealogy from Adam and Eve through the patriarchs. This genealogy was important for many reasons, one of which is that we all come from Adam and Eve. In addition, prophecies told us that the Messiah would have a certain genealogy. The genealogy of Jesus is one piece of evidence showing that He is the Messiah. Because of this, genealogies or family trees are important in the Bible! What’s even more amazing is that WE are a part of this legacy. We can trace our roots back to the very first mom and dad in the whole world. In addition, when we put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and give our lives wholly to him, we are adopted into the family of God! We have a permanent spot in His family tree and receive the blessings of a heavenly inheritance. Look in your Bible or online at at biblical family tree or genealogy. Write down “Adam and Eve,” and then write some of the names you recognize from Bible stories. Now write down your name along with them! God created you and you are a part of the family tree of Adam and Eve.
