Why the tortoise is so slow

Long long ago, in the land of Tinga Tinga, there was a small, green-tailed Tortoise with a colourful shell who lived in the grassland. He lived with all the happy animals including: Hippo, Flamingo, Lion, Lizard and Tortoise. As the sun shone on the beautiful plains, the animals played together.
Tortoise couldn't play because if he took one step he ran away, ( he was as fast as a cheetah) so he slouched behind the tree and drank coconut milk. He wished he could join in.
Lion came to see if he was ok because all of the other animals were fed up. "Don't be sad," roared Lion, "I have a plan!" Little did Tortoise know that he was going to get hurt (that was part of the plan)." It's not fair I can't play because I'm too fast." Cried Tortoise.
"Come with me Tortoise, you must run into that tree and then you will forget how to go fast and then you will go slow." Lion spoke, "Ok I'll do whatever it takes to become slow," answered Tortoise. So he ran into the tree. It really hurt him.

Fff Suddenly he went slower and slower, "YES!" Tortoise cheered joyfully, " I can spend time with my friends." Then all the animals were happy to spend time with him. Lion felt great for helping Tortoise, "Thank you for helping me Lion," He told him, "You're welcome," Lion answered. And that's why Tortoise is so slow. :)
