Sunday, March 11, 2018 Highlights for the week: TODAY, MARCH 18 At morning worship we will be taking a special offering for UMCOR. This is an organization within the United Methodist Church that responds to natural disasters and human suffering around the world. Join us at the Connectional Gathering at Cool Springs UMC at 3:00pm. Each church will be sharing about a mission project they support. We will gather at Bojangle’s for the Sunday Fellowship Dinner at 6:00pm. MONDAY, MARCH 19 Join us at the Habersham WEST Nursing Home at 5:15pm for singing and fellowship with a sweet group of folks. The Church Council will meet at 7:00pm in the Church Office. TUESDAY, MARCH 20 Our prayer ministry meets in The Connection at 9:15am. Please let the Church Office know if you have any prayer concerns this group can be lifting up. The Friends in Faith UMW Circle will have their monthly meeting at 6:00pm in the Church Office. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21 At 5:30pm join us for our Family Fellowship Night meal. Please make a reservation by filling out a reservation card from the pew, or calling the Church Office by noon on Monday. Following the meal, small groups will meet: Youth Group will be in The Connection; Service Quest in the Children’s area; ongoing adult small groups include: “Who Are We?” a four-week class led by Rev. Jan Devereaux; “Effective Parenting in a Defective World” an eight-week class led by Willene Keel and friends; and our Sign Language Class with April Cox. SUNDAY, MARCH 25 Following worship is the Easter Extravaganza, from 2-4pm in the field behind the Church. There will be an Easter egg hunt, cookie and egg decorating, an inflatable, and tons of fun! Please contact Carly if you would like to volunteer at the event or donate candy or sugar cookies. At 6:00pm you can join us at Your Pie for the Sunday Fellowship Dinner! Tickets are still available in the Church Office for Habitat for Humanity's fundraiser, "10 Tools for 10 Days Raffle". Please See Jennifer to purchase. Our Children’s Ministry is hosting our Service Quest Sale on Wednesday, March 14th and 21st, from 5:30-7:30pm and Sunday, March 18th, from 9:30am-12:30pm. We will be selling all of our creations from the past 2 months of classes, and having a silent auction! All proceeds go to Food 2 Kids. We’d love for everyone to come out and support our children! Chris Austin, Certified Lay Speaker and pastor for Ally’s Chapel and New Liberty UMC, is teaching a “Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts” class on Wednesdays, April 11-May 23. Each participant will complete an in-depth inventory to aid in identifying his/her gifts. We will discuss God’s call upon our lives, the meaning and purpose of spiritual gifts, and the importance of obedience to God, and how to best deploy our gifts. Register by contacting the Church Office. Materials fee is $25.
We are looking for Acolytes! Any children, who are rising second graders and older, can serve as acolytes during our Traditional Worship Services! There is no age limit, anyone interested in serving please call or text Sherrie at: 706-768-4884. Family Fellowship Night The meal on March 21th will be Baked Chicken, Creamed Corn, Side Salad, and Dessert. Sandwiches, chips, and dessert will be an available option for any child not eating the listed items. Please make a reservation on the pew card or with the Church Office by noon on Monday.
