You are going to die
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
Genesis 3:2-3 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
Genesis 3:4-5 "You won't die!" the serpent replied to the woman. "God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil."
The temptation! To be like God
Genesis 3:6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her.
Genesis 3:6 So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it too.
Genesis 3:8 When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the LORD God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the LORD God among the trees.
Hiding from God
Genesis 3:9-10 Then the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" He replied, "I heard You walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked."
Genesis 3:11-12 "Who told you that you were naked?" the LORD God asked. "Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?" The man replied, "It was the woman You gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it."
It is the Woman It is Your Fault
Genesis 3:13
Then the LORD God asked the woman,
"What have you done?" "The serpent deceived me," she replied. "That's why I ate it."
Devil Made Me Do It
Genesis 3:14
Then The Lord God said on the serpent,
"Because you have done this you are cursed... You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live."
Genesis 3:15 I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.
Evil Exists
Genesis 3:16 "I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy.... You will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you."
Relationship problems
Genesis 3:17 "Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree... The ground is cursed ...all your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.
Genesis 3:19 "You were made from dust and to dust you will return"
You will work and die
Romans 5:17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.
