Lunchtime Utensils Please ensure that your child has the necessary utensils to eat their lunch during nutrition break. On a daily basis, teachers have been providing spoons and/or forks and our supply is running low!
Outdoor/Indoor Shoes It is important for students to have a pair of “outdoor” and “indoor” shoes. Due to fire safety regulations, students must have a pair of shoes on their feet at all times. This means that if you forget to send your child with “indoor” shoes, he/she will need to remain in their outdoor shoes. When this happens, all of the dirt, mud and/or snow is tracked into our classroom, making for dirty, slippery floors1 Please try to keep a pair of indoor shoes at the school at all times. If this is not possible, please try to make a regular routine for making sure your child has a pair of shoes in their schoolbag every day.
Winter Clothing The cold weather is finally here! Please ensure that your child comes with appropriate outdoor clothing, as we do spend up to one hour outdoors every day. We do our best to help students get ready, but we also encourage students to practice getting ready independently at home. Please keep in mind that the kindergarten curriculum expects students to be responsible for their own belongings. Although we will do our best help students find any missing articles of clothing, with nearly 30 students in the class, we cannot possibly keep track of which items belong to each student. We suggest labeling your child’s clothing in case it is misplaced, or accidentally goes home with another student.
Neighbour-To-Neighbour Food Drive Our school-wide N2N food drive will begin on December 2nd. The N2N centre provides emergency food for families in need on the Hamilton Mountain and surrounding areas. Non-perishables, dried goods, juice, diapers, and toiletries are in great need. If you wish to donate, please send the items to school with your child and they will be added to our school-wide donation spot.
Winter Concert James Macdonald will be hosting a winter concert on Friday, December 18th, the last day of school before the break. Room 9 will be performing a special song, and we would love to invite families to come! Please stay tuned for more details!
