WNABC Meeting Minutes August 8, 2016 I. II.

Meeting was called to order by President, Rhonda Shehee, at 6:37 pm and introductions were made. Attendance- Steve Hrinko, Chuck Preston, Tresa Rieves, Lauren Hoffman, Heather Mobley, Anne Moc, Barb Georges, Jim Evans, Joni Ballou, Betsey Stickney, Michelle Collett, Anita Sherrard, Tai Wong, Wes Elifritz, Amy Seibert, Rhonda Shehee, and Scott Pryfogle were present. Meeting Minutes from July 2016 meeting were presented by Lauren Hoffman and approved with a motion by Heather Mobley and seconded by Joni Ballou. Athletic Director Report – Wes Elifritz In order to be eligible to play a sport a student must have 5 academic classes and a GPA of 1.75. Only administrators can charge items at Concessions to the Athletic Director. The new WNHS Athletic Dept website is www. westervillenorthathletics.com and will go live on Wednesday, 8/17/16. Ron Smith is the new announcer for North football and basketball games. Interviews for a new softball coach will be held on Tuesday, 8/9/16. Lacrosse will become a recognized athletic school sport by WCS by Spring 2017. Treasurer’s Report –Tai Wong The July financials were sent out. The financial report was presented and approved. A $35 bank fee was assessed and then credited back to the WNABC account. New checks were ordered with the WNHS Warrior logo on them. There was a motion by Scott Pryfogle to approve the Concession payouts with a second by Barb Georges. Motion passed. Current athletes can be paid for working athletic camps as a part time job but coaches may not be paid or benefit financially from athletic camps per WCS. All fundraisers must benefit all athletes equally and be equitable to all. Cannot use fundraisers to pay athletic fees for some athletes but not others. If need assistance to help pay play-to-participate fees then can check out www.helpallkids.org. WNABC Bylaws Review and Update – Lauren Hoffman Lauren is working on updating the bylaws and will send out to Officers for review and then to everyone when completed. Concessions Report – Amy Seibert Core Worker training for Concessions will be on Wednesday, 8/10/16, at 6:30 pm. Concessions are in need of a working refrigerator and are seeking a donation of one. If you need to cancel and /or can’t fill your scheduled concessions spots, please notify Amy Seibert ASAP. Boys Soccer JVB games and Concessions on 8/31, 9/26, and 10/10 were cancelled. Amy Seibert ran the selection for Stadium Clean Up dates. Teams will be paid $150 for each shift scheduled. A new lock box is being purchased for Concessions. The Concessions stand

has been cleaned up and restocked. WNABC Membership – Lauren Hoffman WNABC will have a table at Schedule Pick Up for Membership and promotion of WNABC. If you are able to help please let Lauren know. WNABC Spring Fundraising Event –Wes Elifritz This event was discussed and planning has begun. It will be at WNHS in the Commons on April 15, 2017 and will include dinner and an auction. A Committee Chair for the event is needed. Wes has already secured an auctioneer at no cost and the auctioneer’s wife and Wes’s Mom will do the clerking at no charge either. Contact Wes if interested in helping. Team Updates The Football team’s Community Movie Night is Saturday, 8/13/16, in the Stadium. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the movie is at 8:30 pm. Movie will be shown on an inflatable screen and tickets will be available there and at Schedule Pick Up. Boys Basketball is willing to take any open Concession spots. The Boys Volleyball golf outing raised $2000. Baseball is in the off season but will be holding a dine out at Texas Roadhouse Grill. The baseball field may be getting a new fence through the WCS capital improvements plan. Boys Tennis has new tennis nets and tennis balls. Girls Basketball expects a good turnout of players for the teams this year and will be hosting a Golf Outing on 10/15/16 at Kyber Run in Johnstown. Cheerleading- A lot of Sour Patch Kids and Nachos were ordered. When working in Concessions please push these items. Thank you. Softball is out of season. Girls XC have about 30 runners this year and will be a young but fast team. The team will be going to Geneva Hills for their XC retreat and is looking forward to a good season. Boys Soccer lost a team this year and will only have two teams, a Varsity and JV. The new Head Coach is Drew Buttermore. Boys Soccer is also selling Discount Cards for $10 each. Please see a player to purchase. Wrestling is out of season and is doing team conditioning. New Business Orthopedic One Spirit Sprint is October 9, 2016 and 100% of the proceeds go back to each athletic team. There is a grand prize of $10,000 for the school with the most participants. The Ohio MS Cross Country Event will be on 10/23/16 at North. Concessions will be open and North will charge $5 for parking. Wes Elifritz has spoken with Boys XC Coach about working the parking for the event and WNABC will get 50% of the parking proceeds. Inside Concessions for Basketball games is going to be run by WNABC. There is a need to raise funds to build up the WNABC general fund. Adjournment – Meeting was adjourned at 8:02 pm. Next meeting is 9/12/16 at 6:30 PM.
