Examination Rules •

Silence at all times in the examination room. Put up your hand if you have a problem.

Punctuality is vital.

You must bring your ID badge and place it face-up on the table you are working at.

Bring the right equipment in a clear pencil case or plastic bag.

No mobile phones, MP3 Players or Smart Watches. They must be handed in a named envelope provided by yourself.

Only water in a clear plastic bottle with the label removed will be allowed during the exam.

Examination Rules •

Full school uniform must be worn. No coats, scarves or bags will be allowed in the exam room.

If you finish early you will not be allowed to leave the exam room. Plan your time wisely.

Please write in black biro only and take care with your handwriting. No Tippex should be used. Write as clearly as possible.

Be considerate. When the exam has finished leave silently and quickly so as not to disturb classes. If you finish an exam during a timetabled lesson you will be expected to return to that class.

Preparation •

Continue to work hard in your lessons. Try some of the memory tips recommended by Dr Van der Spoel and break revision into manageable chunks.

Get enough sleep, eat a balanced diet and do some exercise. Teenagers need more sleep than both children and adults. Cut down the screen time and get to bed earlier. Aim for at least 8 hours.

If you are feeling very stressed, take control and face up to things that are worrying you. Communicate with your parents, teachers and/or friends.

Remember exams are part of learning and to learn, you need to be challenged. This sometimes means having to handle setbacks. Work hard, be confident and do your best. Support will ALWAYS be available. Speak to Mr Moore, Miss Challis, your Form Tutor or Head of House if you are worried about anything.

In Exams •

Control the exam, don’t let the exam control you.

Wear a watch, place it next to your exam script and keep a close eye on your exam timings.

If you get nervous before exams, take some moments to calm yourself at the start of the exam. Some students find it helpful to shut their eyes, and concentrate on their breathing for a few moments.

Manage your exam desk, develop a routine and stick to it. Try not to look around too much, but ‘be in the moment’ throughout the exam.
